Leawood: Pastor of Social Justice and Community Engagement (40 hours, Salaried, Benefits Eligible)

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic oversight of the church’s justice initiatives serving under-represented and under-resourced people in our community and the world.
  • Identify and develop mutually beneficial relationships with strategic community partners who are working to provide solutions to social injustices impacting our communities.
  • Recruit, equip, and manage lay leader teams for strategic implementation and ministry growth.
  • Develop initiatives that effectively advocate for and educate around injustices of our day; meet community needs in accordance with church goals.
  • Teaching and preaching, as called upon.

Qualifications:

  • Seven+ years of experience in a related field; Master of Divinity or equivalent education; or the equivalent combination of experience and education. Ordained clergy preferred.
  • Teaching and preaching gifts; able to communicate effectively in a public setting with a variety of audiences.
  • Able to collaboratively engage with community partners, community leaders, and congregants.
  • Proven organizational skills with ability to accomplish tasks with little direct supervision.
  • Able to manage time effectively, problem solve, and follow projects through to completion.

Leawood: Special Needs Teaching Assistant (25 Hours, Hourly)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Hands-on care and support for adult participants with special needs.
  • Partner with SALP Coordinator, and Team Leads to encourage each learner’s engagement in program activities to their full potential.
  • Assists in a variety of SALP programs including devotion, bakery, art, music, community service, and enrichment activities.
  • Fosters good communication with adult learners with special needs, caregivers, volunteers and staff team.
  • Available to work 10am-3pm, M-F.

Main qualifications:

  • Proven ability and prior experience working with adults with special needs including autism, down syndrome, learning disabilities and other cognitive and/or physical disabilities.
  • Ability to multi-task and problem solve.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. Ability to model for and assign tasks to volunteers.

Leawood: Mission Ministries Coordinating Assistant (25 Hours, Hourly)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Facilitation for the scheduling, administration and logistics of all projects and events including room reservations, room set-ups, Tech Art needs, childcare, catering, marketing and all areas pertaining to the project or event.
  • Creation and implementation of project/event checklist, working with the appropriate staff to ensure all details are covered.
  • Follow up with new members from Coffee with the Pastors. Answer general inquiries related to serving opportunities.
  • Supervise a team of volunteers for event hospitality, delegating work assignments and managing assignments considering volunteer’s skills and availability.  Recruit new volunteers as needed.

Main qualifications:

  • Proven organizational skills; highly motivated, flexible, efficient, and capable of following projects through to completion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to listen and resolve conflicts quickly and with integrity.
  • Strong administrative and organizational aptitude, working heavily with technology including the Microsoft Office Suite, the church database, and several web-based tools critical to the work of the Mission Ministries team.

Leawood: Adult Discipleship Coordinating Assistant (25 Hours, Hourly)

Primary Responsibilities:

Leawood: Congregational Care Intern (20 Hours, Hourly, 6-month position)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with assigned supervisory pastor and Congregational Care team to provide care and administrative assistance. Administrative duties including, but not limited to – taking minutes at volunteer congregational care team meetings, input information into our internal tracking system for individuals receiving care and connect with team of CCMs to assure that appropriate follow up has been done for congregants.
  • Make necessary follow up on prayer requests (by phone, email, or in person)
  • Make hospital visits, serve as Pastor of the Day, facilitate classes as needed
  • Be present for weekend worship (mornings and evenings) – connecting with congregants before and after worship & serving communion after worship.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Understand and be able to champion the church’s purpose, vision and journey and the theology and traditions of the United Methodist Church.
  • Able to organize, coordinate, and complete task to meet scheduled deadlines

West: Director of Student Ministries (40 Hours, Salaried, Benefits Eligible)

Primary responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction for all programming in Rezlife West Student Ministries, which include both the Middle School Ministry (6th-8th grades) and High School Ministry (9th-12th grades). Various ministry programming includes youth groups, small groups, confirmation, Sunday School, mission trips, and special events (i.e. camps, retreats). Serve as the lead communicator at Rezlife West programs and events.
  • Provide strategic planning and visioning for Rezlife West Student Ministries. This includes setting goals and direction, establishing new ministry opportunities, and evaluating existing programs.
  • Manage, motivate and equip staff, volunteers, and student leaders to effectively mobilize Rezlife West for ministry with students.
  • Regularly connect and converse with teenagers in and outside of the program setting, provide exceptional care and support to Rezlife West students and families during times of need, and lead a process for effective follow-up of first-time visitors to student programming.

 Main qualifications:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in full-time youth ministry or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with proven track record of developing quality relationships; a recognized aptitude for interpersonal engagement, structured dialogue, and diplomacy.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative and management skills, mastery of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to coordinate events and projects. Capable of maintaining confidences, effectively listening and communication; able to resolve conflicts, and conduct one on one counseling sessions, as needed

Overland Park: Nursery and Childcare Classroom Leader (2-4 hours, Hourly)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide childcare for families attending events and/or worship onsite
  • Provide safety and supervision of children
