Leawood: Pastor/Director of Student Ministries (Salaried, Full-Time, Benefits Eligible)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide long-range strategic planning and visioning for Student Ministry and lead processes with the staff team to set ministry goals and direction, establish new ministry opportunities, evaluate existing programs and launch new initiatives
- Provide leadership and direction for Student Ministry programming, including weekly youth group, Sunday school, small groups, service and missions, and special events
- Provide leadership and direction for effective outreach and evangelism to attract more students into our programs and the life of the church
- Research and evaluate processes, programming, and curriculum that best supports our purpose of creating deeply committed teenagers
- Design, launch, and maintain a ministry initiative that ministers directly to college-age people in our church and community
- Impact Student Ministry beyond our church through speaking, networking, and publishing
Main qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 5-7 years of experience in student ministries or any equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master of Divinity degree is preferred
- Above average communication skills with students, parents, volunteers and staff, including speaking to and leading large groups in a variety of program settings
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with proven track record of developing quality relationships; a recognized aptitude for interpersonal engagement, structured dialogue, and diplomacy
- Flexible, dedicated, dependable, and highly motivated with a growing expertise of youth culture
- Creative and forward thinker who can facilitate meaningful change
- Active in making connections with adults to recruit, train, and disciple them as volunteer leaders
- Understanding large church dynamics; effective administrator of large-scale processes and systems
- Proficient in communicating via digital media of all types
