Join us tomorrow at Serve Saturday as we come together to serve with the bulk of our work dedicated to prepare for Easter weekend and the Egg Hunt from 9-11:30 am! Then it’s Palm Sunday at 8 am, 9:30 am, 11 am, & 5 pm with our children’s palm parade at all four services (parents: get to worship early so your child will be ready to participate in the parade!).
Pastor Adam will preach an inspirational message as we begin the holiest week of the year in the Christian faith. This is always one of our largest attended Sundays, so if possible, please consider attending worship at 8 am or 5 pm to help make room for guests.
We still need many more volunteers to help us welcome thousands for worship on Easter weekend. You might consider attending one service and serving at another. Please go now to cor.org/west/signup and join us in greeting, ushering, parking, safety/security, hospitality, or caring for kids in the nursery!
Next Thursday, Holy Week continues with a Thursday service called Maundy Thursday ("Maundy" comes from the same word from which we get the term "mandate") at 7 pm on April 18. I’ll be preaching a message around Christ’s mandate as we share in Holy Communion together, marking the final supper of the disciples with Jesus, along with an original song written for the night by Lindsay and Jacob. The service will be appropriate for people of all ages, with childcare available for Pre-K and under.
Good Friday Day of Prayer will be from 7 am to 7 pm on April 19, with an opportunity to reflect upon the sacrifice of Christ, followed by Easter weekend services on April 20 at 2 pm and 5 pm, with the Egg Hunt in-between at 3:30 pm. On Easter Sunday, April 21, services will continue at 8 am, 9:30 am, 11:15 am, & 5 pm!
Pastor Adam invited us all to consider who we will invite to hear the Good News that Christ is risen on Easter weekend. I hope you’ll take this call to action and invite family members, friends, and neighbors to join us for Easter at Resurrection West! Find more info on our website and go share the Easter and Egg Hunt invitations on our Facebook page.
Finally, I’ve been on a personal spiritual retreat the last couple of days spending time in prayer, study, and fly-fishing. Nature is one of the places I hear God most clearly. I’ve been reading three different books during my time for spiritual reflection, self-improvement, and fun:
I’m thankful for the time our staff-parish committee gives our staff to be on personal retreat each year, and I can’t wait to gather with you again on Sunday leading our kids waving the palms as we remember Jesus arrival into Jerusalem!
Looking forward to Palm Sunday together,
