Resurrection West,

My family and I have had meaningful discussions over the last few weeks around injustice, racism, and our responsibility as Christians to stand as light to push back the darkness. We've also talked about how it's important to be a voice of peace rather than violence.

Tonight I invite you to join me and my family as we head downtown for 'Pray On Troost' from 7-8 pm. We will join the St. James UMC congregation, along with dozens of other churches, to pray together and stand for justice. Wear a Resurrection t-shirt if you have one, or your name badge. We will stand 6' apart for social distancing. Wear a mask with a word written on the front; maybe the word "justice" or "love" or "peace" or "equality."

Please click here to learn more about tonight's event including the historical significance of Troost. Today is also Juneteenth, which commemorates one of the final proclamations to the end of slavery on June 19, 1865, in Galveston, TX.

I want to wish a Happy Father's Day to all of our dads, uncles, grandpas, friends who are like a dad, neighbors, and anyone else who has been in the role of a father figure. If you need a gift idea, how about sending dad with me on a fishing trip! Our Resurrection West Men's Fishing Retreat is Sept. 11-13 at Rockbridge Rainbow Trout and Game Ranch in MO. You can sign up now! No fly fishing experience is required. In fact, you will see many people fishing with spinning reels and rods. Many of our guys have lots of equipment to share.

Look to also celebrate dad on Sunday by viewing our Father's Day photo montage video on Facebook as well as KiDSCOR West video montage of "dress like dad" submissions from the KiDSCOR West Facebook page. I can't wait to see what my daughters sent in!

Last night was our final Thursday night Gathering of Hope on Facebook Live for the summer. You can view the many past Thursdays of devotionals and music archived on our Facebook page as well as Pastor Chris Holliday's and Dave Robertson's devotionals. Pastor Chris will also be taking a break and Dave will post a couple more FB Live devotions as he wraps up teaching through the Enneagram.

Pastor Adam continues his Tuesday night Vespers on FB Live from 8-8:15 pm. There are several online opportunities and classes available at our website, including Living into the Beloved Community, which is live streamed on Wednesday nights at 6:30 pm at cor.org/live.

This weekend Pastor Scott Chrostek will kick off a new series from Matthew 5, the Sermon on the Mount, about how a house built on a firm foundation is critical to kingdom building.

Join us online for worship as we get back to basics this Sat at 5 pm or Sunday at 7:30 am, 9:15 am, 11 am, or 5 pm at cor.org/live. I'll see you there!

In Christ's service,

Pastor Jason
