423 coats! Thats how many coats you gave in our recent coat drive to bless families of our two partner schools. These coats will help many feel the warmth of God this winter. I’m proud to serve a church that’s generous in so many ways!
Last night was so much fun in the Gant household as we trick or treated throughout our neighborhood. Here the girls are all dressed up. Hailey went as Spider Gwen (spider-man’s girlfriend). Kaia was a Starbucks’s Pumpkin Spice Latte. Scharme made her costume from scratch (and a little inspiration from Pinterest)!
Our girls are growing up fast! Scharme and I are so grateful to the staff and volunteers of our KiDSCOR and rezlife ministries. Hailey recently read the Gospel of Mark after being challenged to do so by Rick at Wednesday night youth group, and Kaia recently enjoyed a fun Friday night at CREW 45 with 46 other 4th/5th graders led by Kayla. Very cool!
Sunday we begin a new series entitled The Fruitful Life: Lessons From The Vineyard. Pastor Adam will be teaching through the rich and beautiful themes of Scripture around producing fruit. He’s spent the last year walking with a video crew through the seasons of planting, pruning, harvesting, and production of a vineyard, learning first-hand why Scriptures spoke to these themes. I hope you’ll consider inviting a friend to worship with us as we live into the harvesting theme intentionally inviting others to worship.
If you missed last Sunday, you missed a video update from Bret and Dave on the progress of our Phase III building campaign. The Building Committee and Community Impact Team are hard at work with dozens involved in prayer and devotional development, event-planning, programming the use of the space, and developing messaging to help everyone understand what the addition of a new entrance/exit onto West Valley Parkway, new parking bay with approximately 150 parking stalls, expansion of 200 seats in the Sanctuary, and a new Community Life Center for recreation, meals, receptions, and large group gatherings can do to further God's purposes here at Resurrection West. Watch and share the video update from Dave and Bret on our facebook page here.
Finally, I’d appreciate prayers for God to use our West Campus staff as we host staff chapel later this morning hoping to bless our staff from every campus with a mini-fall festival outdoor worship experience, including launching pumpkins in the trebuchet, hayrack rides, cider around a campfire, and more.
Pastor Chris will be preaching on the meaning behind All Saints Day. All Saint’s Day is another name for All Soul’s Day right after All Hallow’s Eve commemorating those faithful who have gone on before us to eternity with God.
Prayers would also be appreciated for my words Friday morning as I preach to pastors from Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Oklahoma, and Texas. I’ll be preaching on the principle of Sabbath. Resting on the Sabbath is the fourth of the ten commandments handed down to Moses for the people of God. This commandment is intended to guide us toward a fruitful walk with God, spending time with God rather than for the benefit of one’s self. May we tap into a life with God this coming weekend, especially growing and worshiping together on Sunday.
I’ll be there and look forward to seeing you too!
Looking forward to Sunday,
