Resurrection West,

Greetings this beautiful afternoon! I have been inspired already today with God moving through my small group of guys that meet each Friday morning. We have been studying Ephesians and digging into an approach to our faith of ‘readiness.’ In closing prayer requests today, we had one of our guys asking for prayers over an extended road trip, another for prayer over their new journey of sobriety, another as his family moves to a new home, another for strength as he counsels a friend through a difficult divorce, another celebrating the birth of a new baby girl, one for a work relationship that’s challenging, and another who would be receiving their first foster child tonight. I closed our group in prayer and reflected on how many unique life moments were happening in this one small gathering of people. I found myself lifting all of you up in prayer for whatever life moment you may be walking through. I’m reminded of Jesus’ promise to be ‘with us to the very end of the age.' These are some of the final and most powerful words from Matthew’s Gospel. May these words be written upon our hearts wherever our journey is taking us right now!

This Sunday we continue to search for the Gospel in Film as Pastor Scott Chrostek digs into the famed Tom Hanks film, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, about the life of Mr. Rogers, who you may know served God as a Presbyterian Pastor. This will be an inspiring message for sure and a bit of fun as we invite you to join our ‘dress like Mr. Roger’s contest.’ We will have prizes for the best look-a-like at each service. Pastor Scott has already pulled out his favorite cardigan to preach in!

Join us a week from today on June 18 at 6pm, for movie night across all five locations. We will begin with hot dogs, chips, and drinks, then popcorn and the movie The Mitchells vs. the Machines. We will enjoy the movie in the Sanctuary starting at 6:30pm. Bring your friends, your favorite folding chair, and a blanket! Pastor Scott will be preaching through this during Father’s Day weekend.

Also, join us for Serve Saturday, June 19, all across the KC metro area as we serve. Go to cor.org/next where there are hundreds of spots to serve in many different ways including at home or at a safe-distance. These spots always fill up fast, so sign up now!

On Father’s Day Sunday, June 20, we will celebrate all the men who have impacted our lives. A special photo montage of dad will be prepared for worship by Lindsay Blacksher, our Director of Worship Arts, so please email her your photo (one per family) by next Thursday by 5pm at lindsay.blacksher@cor.org.

Finally, mark your calendars now for an outdoor 'Summer Festival’ on Sunday, June 27 from 5-7pm. We will have yard games, food trucks, and LIVE music by the ‘Blacksher Duo.’ Sunday, June 27 will also be our new West Location Pastor, Rev. Bill Gepford’s, first live sermon at both 9am & 11am. Do not miss this Sunday morning in worship and our Sunday evening FREE event!

In Christ's service,
