Resurrection West,

Happy Memorial Day weekend! Summer is here and I’m more grateful than ever to welcome the warm months ahead. This weekend in worship we will focus on remembrance. This is an important topic as we consider the future before us by remembering the sacrifices of our past. We hope you’ll join us in worship this weekend at cor.org/west.

Thank you for your continued generosity. You can give online at cor.org/give. And remember to register your attendance during worship services each week at cor.org/here.

Tomorrow join us for a pop-up food drive at Resurrection West. Drive through anytime Saturday morning from 9-11 am for a contact-free serve opportunity. I look forward to seeing many of you (at an appropriate distance and with a mask on).

Here's a list of what is needed that we will distribute to our local food pantries:

  • Cereal (cold and hot)
  • Canned meat
  • Canned fruits & vegetables
  • Peanut butter & jelly (no glass)
  • Chunky soups
  • Boxed dinners (like macaroni and cheese)
  • Rice and dried beans

Please do not bring expired, opened, dented, or glass donations. We are also accepting financial donations via cash or checks made out to COR to help provide essential needs to our partner school families.

Thank you to everyone who supported the ‘Backpacks for Hunger’ program with our partner schools (Ridgeview Elementary & Fairview Elementary) through the school year, and even though school is over this week and we’ve done our last “backpack fill,” we have a plan in motion to continue to support those students over the summer. More to come about this in the weeks ahead.

Next week we will also thank our local heroes on the front lines by sending 160 Johnny’s BBQ meals to the Olathe Police Department. May we take the time to lift up a prayer of thanks and protection over all of our first responders. We are so grateful for your service!

It’s been a joy to connect with many of you over video through the new Coffee Break with Pastor Jason time we've begun doing. If you’d like to connect over a Zoom or Team call, please email debbie.dietz@cor.org to find us a time to connect.

Finally, my family joined with a dozen rezlife volunteers leaders last night to plant celebration signs in the yards of all 120 of our Resurrection West high school seniors!

We are all so proud of their accomplishments and are excited to see what’s ahead for each of their lives. It’s been difficult for the class of 2020 missing their ceremonies and parties, so we wanted to add a touch of joy and love for them from the heart of their church family. Many of these seniors were baptized, confirmed, and gifted their third grade Bibles here at Resurrection West. You can see pictures and profiles about them and what they're doing next over on our Facebook page. I know they felt your love and care for them as they woke up and found these signs in their yards today.

May each of you know that your church family will be cheering you on as you dream for your future. And may God bless you to change the world and help it look more like the kingdom of God!

In Christ's service,

Pastor Jason
