Capping Off an Incredible Summer

Resurrection West,

What an incredible time at last Sunday night’s baptismal service with 19 people receiving baptism, dozens of baptism renewals, and over 230 celebrating with praise and applause! The evening capped off an amazing summer of growth, service, and celebration. There are many moving photos loaded on our Facebook album here. A video is in development and will be ready soon.

I asked our staff team to gather and share a few statistics after such an amazing summer 2017:

  • 300 kids learned all about the "Secret Life of Jesus" at VBC, and we had 100 at Sports Camp.
  • 60 teens along with 10 adult leaders served on mission in downtown KC and Colorado.
  • 50 women spent time in smaller groups for study, prayer, conversation, and encouragement at Thursday Live.
  • 163 served at our Bless the School Mega Mission at Ridgeview Elementary (on a very rainy Saturday morning, too!).
  • 288 school supply bags were provided by you to bless children this school year along with $960 worth of gift cards.
  • 13 couples journeyed together through the Road to Wisdom course to enrich their relationship.

Average worship attendance increased 14% this summer over last summer - WOW! We grew in our understanding of Jesus parable’s through the Upside Down Kingdom series, explored the Gospel in the Movies, and were inspired by sermons on Communion, Baptism, and the Plentiful Harvest God calls us to be a part of. God is moving and continues to move, so may we be found faithful to God’s mission to build Christian community where non-religious and nominally religious people are becoming deeply committed Christians!

Worship this Sunday

This Sunday Pastor Adam will be preaching a sermon on the entire Bible! Yes, thats right, a message on what the Bible is and what the Bible is not. We will all come away with a better understanding of Scripture and how to read, grow, and apply it to our lives. Bring your Bible and a friend to worship at 8 am, 9:30 am, 11 am, or 5 pm.

This is a "worship together" Sunday where children are invited into worship with us (nursery is still provided for kids 6 months to pre-K) and we will bless our kids, teens, teachers, administrators, and school staffers at every service praying for them. We will have a gift for every child too! Let’s make the commitment to continue in our presence together in worship and set the example for the next generation.

In the coming weeks as you get back in the fall routine, please consider worshiping at 8 am or 5 pm. Worshiping at a less opportune time is a missional act to make room for all. We’ve learned that 9:30 am is by far our largest attended service, followed by 11 am, then 8 am, and then 5 pm.

With such exciting growth in our attendance through this spring and summer, we know we will need to make room at our most opportune times! Thank you for prayerfully considering this call to serve!

Looking forward to worship with you on Sunday,

Pastor Jason
