Spring Break is here! Remember to "spring forward' and set your clocks forward one hour on Saturday evening. We will gather for a family worship Sunday as we continue in the Gospel of Mark Lenten series. There will be no KiDSCOR or Rezlife Sunday School, but there will be nursery for Pre-K and under at all four services. We will also have a kid’s message at all four services!
Last Sunday was such a great day of worship as we gathered together to grow in our understanding of the Gospel of Mark. Many of you have asked about services other the an the one you attend, so I thought you would like to see an attendance breakdown of Worship and Sunday School. Youth Group gatherings for middle school and high school students happen on Wednesday evening and average about 120 in attendance right now.
Total = 894
Total = 83
Total = 283
Total = 47

As you can see, 9:30 am is a perfect time for many of us. If you are currently worshipping at 9:30 am and are able to worship at one of the other three services, that would help us make room for all in many ways. My family and I worship at the 8 am, then our kids participate in Sunday School at 9:30 am, with my wife often volunteering at that hour with KiDSCOR Sunday School.
Analysts will tell you that seeing kids/youth at 10% to your total adult attendance is healthy and growing. We welcomed 413 kids/youth last Sunday alone - that’s 46% of the adult attendance! I am thanking God today for the opportunity to raise a generation of disciples mentored by each of you.
On Monday night we held our largest Upward basketball season celebration, which happens at the end of each season of sport (basketball, football, soccer, cheer, and baseball coming this summer). Kids learned about Christian principles such as kindness and patience this season culminating with an award from their coach – my daughter Kaia received the “Best Hustle” award from her coach this season! We enjoyed Sheridan’s custard, a video montage of the season, and an illusion to help our kids learn the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Adednego from Daniel 3.
Thanks to the many coaches, referees, and volunteers who make this ministry possible. We had many new faces this season who have now found a home here at Resurrection West!
We are growing once again in adding a staff position: Associate Director of Student Ministries and Worship Arts. This is a full-time position, and we are accepting applications for it right now. This person will work closely with Rick Webb, Director of Student Ministries, and Lindsay Hefner, Director of Worship Arts, to help cultivate and grow a comprehensive student ministry as well as assist in worship elements of the church.
Also we have two staff transitions forthcoming: James Wear, Video and Graphics Producer, has taken a position in IT for the Shawnee Mission School District. We are sad to see James step out of this position, but are excited for the ways he will help Shawnee Mission Schools. He will serve with us through Easter and continue in lay leadership here. This producer position is part time and works with Lindsay Hefner to coordinate the detailed planning, preparation, and execution of Sunday worship and other programs.
Carol Townsend will also be transitioning off the staff team to care for her family, so she will be returning to lay leadership. Carol has served as a Coordinating Assistant providing administrative support for children, adult, student, and missions programming. She will be staying on until we find her replacement. This position is part-time.
Application and details for all three of these postings can be found at cor.org/employment.
Please take time to thank these staff for their incredible commitment to our church and mission!
Looking forward to worshipping with you on Sunday,
Can’t find something? Let us help.
