Recovery groups welcome anyone affected by substance, drug, or alcohol abuse or addictions of any kind, including those struggling with mental health concerns. Some groups are meeting in person and online.

Join us on April 25th for a Resurrection Recovery panel moderated by Lara Moritz, an award-winning anchor at KMBC 9 News in Kansas City.
Panelists include counselors, individuals in addiction recovery, CIT officers and family members of those in recovery.
This event is part of our weekly Thursday Care Night programming.

Faith and The Twelve Steps of Recovery
Join Pastor Jenifer Schultz for this six-week class and explore how a journey through The Twelve Steps might strengthen your faith. Whether you are seeking freedom from a personal dependency or want to understand how to support a loved one, this is an open class for all who desire to learn more. And each week will hold space for you to experience these steps from your own place in life. While the class starts at 7 pm, all are invited to join us at 6 pm for pizza and a live-streamed testimony. Weekly participation is suggested, but not required.

Resurrection Recovery Resources
Recovery Curriculum
This course walks you through the 12 steps and encourages community and faith. We take a biblical approach to the Twelve Steps with stories and characters from the old and New Testament with a pictorial look at the Resurrection Stained Glass Window. Understand the meaning of surrender, making amends, how to take an inventory, what is prayer and meditation and how to lead your own 12-step study. This guide can be done online in the Fall and Spring with our support groups or one on one with a sponsor.
Resurrection Recovery Special Speaker
Melissa Urban, the powerhouse behind the Whole30 Program, shares her experience, strength and hope in this presentation. Listen to her powerful message on the power of overcoming her drug addiction to become a bestselling author.

First Call led a conversation to offer education and support for the high need faith communities are finding regarding substance use and mental health. This conversation addresses language to reduces stigma in regarding addiction and offers resources to those seeking help in the Kansas City area.
Dayton Moore on Addiction
The Kansas City Royals’ general manager Dayton Moore spoke at Resurrection to raise awareness about the harmful effects of pornography and how to find hope after addiction. This event was part of our weekly Thursday Care Night programming.
Recovery Kickoff: Guest Speaker Frank Boal
How does someone find hope in the midst of the tragic loss of a child? Frank Boal, sportscaster with Fox 4 KC and WHB 810 Radio, shares his personal story following the death of his son Brett in a car accident. He talks about Brett’s struggle with addiction and its impact on his family.
