Hi Resurrection Overland Park,

I'm looking forward to this weekend and seeing many of you at our Back to School Blessing Drive-Thru and Worship on the Back Lawn this Sunday. Thank you to all of you teachers, staff, and administrators working overtime to invest in students.

As school begins, we want to bless our students. So if you are able, please join us for the Back to School Blessing this Sunday from 4–5 pm in our circle drive and main parking lot. Our students will receive a gift box, we'll offer prayer, and then join us for another outdoor, socially distanced Worship on the Back Lawn Gathering at 5 pm. Bring a lawn chair, a mask, your own water, and your family! Help us prepare, register here for worship.

This Weekend in Worship

This weekend in Worship, Pastor Adam continues our sermon series, Finding Joy in the Midst of Adversity, as we look at scripture passages from the second chapter of Philippians. I find Paul's life fascinating as he experienced challenges, trials, and difficult moments.

As we read through his epistle or letter, I am learning to find joy in every circumstance. Spread some joy by sharing this video and plan to join us online Saturday at 5 pm, Sunday at 7:30 am, 9:15 am, 11 am, or 5 pm at You can also join the worship broadcast on Channel 38 “The Spot” (KMCI) at 8 am and 11 am.

#LoveYourNeighbor T-Shirt and 30th Anniversary

Don't forget to order your super cool, awesome t-shirt! This October, Resurrection celebrates 30 years of ministry. We are planning events during the entire month as part of our campaign to love our neighbors.

We'd love to blanket the city with a message to #LoveYourNeighbor, and so you are invited to purchase a special 30th Anniversary t-shirt to wear during the month and beyond. We are picking up part of the cost, so shirts are only $5 with all sizes available, toddler through 4XL. We need your orders by September 15.

You can pick up your t-shirt at our 30th Anniversary kick-off event on Saturday, October 3 or have it mailed directly to you for an additional shipping cost of $9.95 per order. To see the design and order your shirt, click here.

Resurrection Men's Bible Study

Guys, I'd love to invite you to join me for Bible study on Thursday evenings this fall, starting September 17, from 8:15 to 9:15 pm online via Zoom. What I love about this group is that we spend time together to talk about life, work, family, and read scripture together as we grow in faith.

There is no prep required, just bring your Bible. Register here.

Resurrection Mom's Group

Come and get out of the house and enjoy time together safely in Megan Coffey's backyard! Friday, September 18. Bring a lawn chair, something to drink and/or snack on if you choose. Come right at 7 or anytime after!

Hope to see you there! For any questions, please contact Megan at 913-485-6079.

Join a Group, Class, or Study This Fall

As students return to class, you can too! Now is also an excellent time to make plans for the fall by joining a small group, class, or study. To join a group, email

We are planning a great fall kickoff with new classes, groups, and opportunities. Classes and groups are online for now. Click here to see which group is right for you.

Interested in Membership at Resurrection?

Join us for online Coffee with the Pastors Sunday, September 20 at 2 pm. This is an opportunity to learn more about the mission of our church and become members if you desire. Church Committee Nominations (due Oct 12)

We're currently seeking applicants and nominations to serve on our key leadership teams next year: Finance, Trustees, Staff Parish Relations, Foundation, Nominations and Lay Delegates to Annual Conference.

Please note that you must be a member for at least two years prior to serving in a preparatory role, or three years before serving as a full voting member on a committee. The Nominations Committee will evaluate all applications and recommend a slate that provides balance with regard to campus involvement, age, gender, and ethnicity.

Visit for committee descriptions, requirements, and to submit your interest by Monday, October 12.

Serve Saturday Coming Up

One more thing I want to share with you. As we prepare for our return to in-person worship in October, we'd love to have you help us ready the building on September 19, from 9 am to 11 am. We will spruce up the building both inside and out. We'll provide opportunities to serve, jobs that can be done while sitting as well as other more technical jobs.

All tasks will be socially distanced and masks will be worn. To maintain social distancing and caution, there will not be jobs for children under 6th grade. The registration link shows a brief description of the available ways to serve. Click here to check them out and sign up where you feel called!

I hope you have a wonderful Friday.

In Christ,

Joshua Clough
