Good morning Resurrection Overland Park,

This weekend we celebrate the women in our lives as we celebrate Mother’s Day. My mom lives across the country, so I won’t see her in person, but I’ll reflect on the ways she has inspired my faith and cared for me. She often reminds me I need to call her every once in a while. She is always right. Perhaps there is a mother figure in your life – whether that person is your biological mother or someone who has become like a mother – that you’d like to call, connect with over lunch, or for whom you give thanks.

Join me Sunday evening for our weekly gathering, 5–6:30 pm, at Resurrection Overland Park. Throughout the summer we will gather weekly to build community, prepare ourselves and the space for the preview services and grand opening, and develop teams to lead the way. I encourage you to worship in the morning each Sunday at one of our campuses (or, if you are out of town, you may want to worship with us online). Then gather with us again in the evening at our campus. I recognize many have plans over the summer months and summer holidays, but I’d love for you to be here as often as you can. We’ll continue to plan and prepare for the launch.

Sunday, May 19, 1:30-3:30 pm we host the first Coffee with the Pastors at Resurrection Overland Park, and I’m looking forward to Pastor Adam joining us in person. This event is important because we learn more about the history and mission of the church as well as the expectations for membership. At the end, there is a special ceremony for those who have decided to join. If you cannot make this first date, the second Coffee with the Pastors is on June 2.Please register to let us know you will attend on May 19 or on June 2.

We’ve received a lot of “likes” on Facebook. That is exciting! Take a moment to share the page and invite a friend. The webpage is also up so check it out and share it with a friend. Our video team also put together a video from last Sunday's weekly gathering, and you can use it to invite your friends to our upcoming events this summer. You can click the photo below to watch and share the video.

I want to share with you a few images from our very first gathering last week. What I loved most was how everyone chipped in to set up the chairs. It was a symbolic act to say that together we are on the ground floor of this new thing God is doing in our community. Everyone has an important part to play.

My favorite moment was when we all cheered – now, we are us. We are Resurrection Overland Park.

This week, the campus has been buzzing with activity as our staff teams are updating the technology systems and rewiring the buildings. Suzy, our Director of Operations and Community Life, is off to a great start in her first official days. I am amazed that I have the privilege of leading this awesome group of people. Today, I am giving thanks to God for you.

In Christ,

Joshua Clough
