Hello Resurrection Overland Park,

This weekend Claire and I will celebrate her birthday! While we hoped to celebrate it with Adalynn at home, it looks like she won't be coming home this week. But, maybe next week! Her due date was originally April 19, which is Monday. I'm hopeful we will go home not too long after that.

I find myself praying for my family, for our church, and for our world. I know you are too, especially as we've witnessed difficult events occur across the country. While we may feel at a distance or helpless, faith invites us into a way of living that brings about the kingdom of God here on earth. This weekend, we can worship together and we can serve together.

This weekend in worship we continue our series, Beginning Anew After the Pandemic. Pastor Adam will share a sermon entitled "Wisdom: Lessons We Learned." I'll look forward to seeing you at 9 am and 11 am at our Overland Park location.

You can also join us online Saturday at 5 pm or Sunday 7:30 am, 9 am, 11 am, or 5 pm, on YouTube, or the television broadcast Channel 38 "The Spot" at 8 and 11 am. If you plan to attend worship with your kiddos, help us prepare for your kids by registering in advance. Nursery is also available for kids 2 and under. Sign up here! Also, if you have an interest in helping our kids to learn and grow in their faith, we'd love for you to serve with our KiDSCOR team. Sign up here!

Serve Saturday is Tomorrow!

Jump into action and make a difference in our community and across the KC Metro area by participating in Serve Saturday, 9 am to noon. Registration is required to ensure proper social distancing. We still have options available to serve, including family-friendly and outdoor options, food pantries, community gardens and more. If you can't commit to the whole morning, take part in our monthly collection drive at each Resurrection location. This month we are collecting new socks and underwear. Register here!

Rezlife Serve Saturday, April 17

We'd love for students (grades 6-12) to join us for a RezLife Serve Saturday, too! On Saturday, April 17, our RezLife Director, Leah Miller, is gathering our students for a special serve day in the Food Pantry. Be sure to sign up by sending an email to Leah.Miller.@cor.org.

Serve our Partner School and Fill the Bookmobile!

This spring, we are serving with Apache Elementary, our partner school, to provide books for kids through our Resurrection Bookmobile. You can shop at the online book fair to provide books by Click here.

Sacred Arts Committee - Interest Form

We are seeking leaders to fill a limited number of volunteer openings on Resurrection's Sacred Arts Committee representing all of Resurrection's locations.

Scope of responsibilities, as a subcommittee of Resurrection's Board of Trustees, includes determining and planning where sacred artwork is appropriate church-wide plus maintaining installed interior and exterior artwork. The committee seeks an appropriate balance of skills and backgrounds in the areas of art, architecture, and interior/exterior design. Meetings typically occur monthly or less, as needs arise.

To forward your name for consideration, please complete this brief questionnaire by Monday, April 26. Thank you for your interest.

SevenDays Panel, April 22

SevenDays, sponsored by the Faith Always Wins Foundation, is an annual week of events that encourage people to take actions to bring positive change for the future from the tragedy of a hate crime that took the lives of three members of our community.

One of this year’s events features a virtual presentation by Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish, an internationally recognized peace activist and author of "I Shall Not Hate," on Thursday, April 22 at 6:30 pm. Following the presentation, Pastor Adam will join Dr. Abuelaish, Mindy Corporon of the Faith Always Wins Foundation, and Rabbi Art Nemitoff of The Temple, B'nai Jehuda in a panel discussion. Learn more and sign up for this online event here!

Coffee With The Pastors is Coming Up

Interested in membership? Take the first step and attend Coffee with the Pastors online Sunday, April 25. You will learn about the history of Resurrection, hear from Senior Pastor Adam Hamilton on the beliefs and traditions of the United Methodist Church, and get to know the church a bit better. You will also connect with fellow Resurrection worshipers and hear about opportunities to serve, connect and grow! Register now.

I hope you have a good day and enjoy the rain we get. It's wonderful to see green grass, flowers blooming, and trees returning to life, even if we must tolerate a few allergies.

In Christ,

Joshua
