Missions Update: Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Mission Ministries volunteers and leaders are encouraged to feel comfortable taking precautions appropriate for their own personal health situation. 

For more information on ways to respond, donate and serve during the COVID-19 outbreak, please visit our Local Impact Ministries pages.

Please note, we are not taking donations of gently used household goods or clothing at this time. We would ask that you set those items aside for when donation drop offs are accepted again.

Resurrection Leawood Activities

Here are a some ways you stay connected with us in the coming weeks:

  • Partner School Support – We don't know how and when students will return to the classroom, but we do know that many of the 3800+ students who attend our nine partner schools will supplies in the coming year. You can help by donating to a special fund. We also have put together a list of the ten most requested items to donate. Learn more about how you can help here.
  • Global Leadership Summit 2020 is online - Learn how to maximize your influence through this two-day online leadership conference with fresh, actionable leadership content from a faculty of world-class speakers. Resurrection members and regular attenders can register for $99 through July 21. See details and register here, enter Priority Code: LEAD2020.
  • Living into the Beloved Community class – Watch previous sessions of the class on our YouTube channel.
  • Recovery Support Groups are meeting in person as well as continuing with online connection on Thursdays at 7 pm. More info here.

NEW Thursday LIVE Women’s Study meets via Zoom every Thursday in July at 9:30 am. Diane Robertson and Darcy Carlstedt will lead the book study, “How Happiness Happens” by Max Lucado.

Resurrection West Men’s Fly Fishing Retreat - Join us for this awesome opportunity for guys to come together through scriptural study, devotion, worship, fellowship and fly-fishing at Rockbridge Rainbow Trout and Game Ranch September 11-13.

Upcoming Serve Opportunities

  • Student Backpack Drive will be Saturday, July 18 from 9am-Noon! This year instead of doing our usual school supply drive, we are purchasing supplies through the Olathe Public Schools Foundation. We need your help either dropping off new backpacks contact free at Resurrection West or dropping off cash or checks made out to COR or by using Pushpay to donate funds for us to purchase supplies for our partner schools.
  • Bless the School MEGA MISSION Backpack Fill will be July 27 & 28. This year, due to Covid 19, MEGA MISSION looks very different. Instead of going to the schools we have a unique opportunity to help in-need students by filling backpacks at the Millcreek Learning Center in Olathe. Morning session or afternoon are available these two days and we need your help. Sign up to serve at cor.org/west/signup.

Resurrection Downtown Activities

Here are a few ways you can stay connected at Resurrection Downtown this week:

  • VBC On-the-Go Kit Pick Up! If your family registered for Vacation Bible Camp On-the-Go Kits, please plan to attend our wild and crazy drive-through kit pick-up event on Saturday morning, July 18, from 9 - 10:30 am in the parking lot at 1601 Grand. (Registration by July 1 required.)

  • Disciple 1 – Tuesdays 6:30 pm. Darrell Holtz will be leading this 25 week online (it will end early December) version.
  • White Fragility Study- Monday’s, July 13, 20 & 27, 7-8:30 pm, Online through Zoom this 4-week book study invites readers to examine and discuss the ideas Robin DiAngelo presents in the book in order to open paths for participants to come to terms with their own and others’ fragile, defensive, and coded responses when a conversation turns to race.
