A time for students to personally decide to confirm the vows of their baptism.

A Public Affirmation of Faith

In Confirmation, a group of students join together to explore who Christ is, what it means to know Jesus through a life-long relationship and how we can follow Him as United Methodists.

Confirmation registration is closed for the 2017-18 school year. Registration for the 2018-19 session will begin April 24th, 2018

What is Confirmation?

Confirmation is not simply a “rite of passage” or just a class to complete. It is a step in a life-long journey of pursuing the heights, depths and widths of God’s love and making a vow to live in relationship with Jesus for the rest of our lives!  You do not need to be a member of Church of the Resurrection to join us on the Confirmation Journey.

The Confirmation Ceremony is the students' first public affirmation of the faith of the church as being their own faith. The Confirmand is taking responsibility for living as a member of the body of Christ and for fulfilling God's purposes. This includes building relationships with peers and adults who will support them in their faith. We strongly believe this is done through small group relationships long after Confirmation is over.

Small groups are gender and grade specific. All students are put into small groups with 2-3 adult mentors (no friend requests made for groups). However, we will make all effort to put in groups according to feeder high school area. Please let Teri Chalker know in advance if you have any group concerns or needs for your student.

I learned more than I ever thought I would. I could speak my mind and I learned to ask myself 'What would Jesus want me to do?' more often.

Serve with Confirmation

Whether you are a Confirmand or you are looking to volunteer with our Confirmation program, we have ways for you to get involved.

Teri Chalker

Confirmation/Wild 1's Coordinator

Teri believes she has the best "job" in the world! She gets to hang out with kids! She wears two hats: on one side, she works in Children's Ministries with the WILD1's 5th grade youth group; on the other side, she works in Student Ministries with the Confirmation program.

Teri has two children, Jordan and Josh. She and her husband Brad were high school sweethearts. She went to KU (Rock Chalk!) but married a Wildcat. She loves watching her kids in their activities and cheering them on. She also enjoys boating and being on the water and loves to travel.

She is a Licensed Clinical Social worker in both Kansas and Missouri, but has been working at Resurrection since 2002. She feels that God has placed her in these ministries - she would never have picked them for the direction of her life. God is good that way, huh?

Nick Kaufmann

Worship Leader for Students and Children

As I get older I try to be who I needed when I was younger. It helps me relate to students. I believe in building community with our students. It is a community that builds upon a foundation of Jesus Christ's values in life. I believe in guiding students as they wrestle with their thoughts and feelings about God. It is my hope that each student roots themselves in faith so that they may understand God more fully.

Students will learn about loving our neighbors from me. I also invite students to experience and serve a diverse humanity created by God with me. I believe every student is a vessel for expressing God's love in the world.
