Serve Saturday

Serve Saturdays (formerly Faithwork) offer a variety of pre-planned serving opportunities which require only your time and a desire to make an impact in our church, our community and our world. Individuals, families and groups are welcome to participate in any of our events. Help us serve God by serving others!

Younger children are welcome at the discretion of parents. Some projects may include small pieces and/or require fine motor skills such as cutting.

April Serve Saturday Opportunities:

Adelante Thrift (all ages):  Mission Adelante has a friendly staff who focuses on helping refugees, immigrants and other international customers adjust to life in a new country by offering low-cost clothing and items for the home. It's a bright and cheery store where everyone is welcome to find a bargain.

Central United Methodist Church (ages 12+): This small Methodist congregation in KCK opens their doors each weekend to their diverse neighborhood, a place where everyone can come together and enjoy a community meal.

Flourish Furnishings (ages 12+): This Resurrection ministry distributes furnishings and other household items to those in need of a "hand up" through a generous donation program.

Grace United Community Ministries (ages 12+): This active community center works to address the needs of their neighbors in many ways. Resurrection is heavily involved by providing the computer lab used by students and adults, tutoring services after school, rehabilitation to the historic sanctuary, and this regular Saturday meal.

Heritage of Overland Park (all ages): Heritage specializes in caring for Alzheimer's and memory care patients. The pleasing scent of warm cookies along with social interaction makes this morning activity a great way for young children to experience what it means to reach out to others.

Kansas City Rescue Mission (ages 12+): KCRM is a caring, Christ-focused shelter which helps men on the first step to life recovery by providing basic services like a hot, balanced meal.

Mats for the Homeless (ages 5+): Join this popular project, turning recycled plastic bags into water-resistant mats for those experiencing homelessness.

Partner School Teacher Gifts Assembly (all ages): Help assemble teacher gifts for our Partner Schools and student encouragement gifts for students at the Juan Wesley School in Honduras.

Village Presbyterian (ages 12+): This Food Pantry provides its Kansas City neighbors with a clean and welcoming environment to shop for needed groceries and personal items.
