Rummage Sale THANK YOU

Thank you so much for donating, volunteering and shopping the rummage sale! With your help, $67,750 funds have been raised and will be distributed through grants. Learn about last year's grant recipients

Sponsored by United Methodist Women, proceeds support sustainable ministries benefiting women, childcare, and youth both locally and globally. Donate gently used items, volunteer to sort and organize, then shop to find treasures!

July 9-11
Sun 12 pm - 8 pm , Mon 8 am - 8 pm, Tue 8 am - 8 pm

If you have unused items sitting around your house, you can donate it to the Rummage Sale and know that the proceeds are going to a great cause! We take clean, undamaged, quality items of all kinds (see the list below), but we cannot accept everything. Before you bring it to us, ask yourself if you would give it to a good friend in need. If you wouldn't, we probably can't take it.

Dropoff locations are located in Building C of Resurrection Leawood. Please pull up to the curb on the east side of the building (the side closest to Roe). Schedule a furniture pick up from your house, within a 10-mile radius of Resurrection Leawood, or use the Bungii app to hire "your friend with a truck" (ask for a rummage discount). More details about furniture pickup are below.

Tax receipts can be provided for accepted donations.

July 9-15

If you are at least 12 years old, you can help us run the Rummage Sale! Shifts are 4 or 5 hours each, and there are a variety of roles and responsibilities to choose from. See the full list of available positions below or get a taste of how you can help in the video at the bottom of this page.

By volunteering, you are helping us raise funds to support sustainable efforts to improve the lives of women, youth and children around the world. Students may also count this time as community service hours for school. In addition, by helping on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, you earn 5 tickets to the "Friends & Family" invitation-only pre-sale on Thursday night. Sign up to serve here.

July 14 (8 am - 3 pm) & July 15 (8 am - noon)

The annual Rummage Sale, which fills the Student Center and many of the adjoining rooms in Building C, is home to thousands of hidden treasures! Whether you are a DIY-er looking for your next Pinterest project or a college student looking to accessorize your new apartment, you will find incredible deals at the Rummage Sale. We have books to read, home furnishings, toys and clothes for children, sporting equipment, travel gear, furniture and appliances, and more.

We accept cash only (no checks or credit cards) and you must be able to transport your own purchases on the same day as purchase. OR, if you buy more than you can drive away, give Bungii a try -- "Big stuff? Small car? No problem. We're your friend with a truck."

Donate responsibly -- first ask yourself, would you give this to a friend?

Marty Bread Classes

United Methodist Women will once again be selling Marty Bread at our Rummage Sale. Many of you have expressed an interest in learning how to make Marty Bread, so this Sign Up is an effort to match teachers/locations with would-be bakers. We currently have classes scheduled on 6/11, 6/16, 6/20, 6/22, 6/27 and 6/29. Please click the link for more details and to sign up.

Furniture Donations

We do accept furniture, and we have a limited capacity to pick up furniture from homes. For pickup, your home must be within a 10-mile radius of Resurrection Leawood. You will need to be present during the scheduled pickup with furniture placed in the garage or near entrance. Our crew is not able to move pieces from a downstairs basement -- due to liability and to avoid navigating steps. Our crew will only pick up furniture pieces; please drive all other donations to the church for curb side drop off.

To schedule a pickup for July 11, 12, 13, please call (913) 232-4198 before July 5 and leave a message. Or, consider hiring Bungii to load up your furniture and deliver it to the church (ask for the rummage discount).

  • Tables (dining, end, coffee, computer, nightstand, patio)
  • Desks (wooden computer desks only)
  • Hutches
  • Armoires
  • Bookcases
  • Chairs
  • Couches
  • Cabinets

Friends & Family Night

On Thursday night, July 13, 5-8 pm, we have a special invitation-only night of pre-sale shopping. Volunteers who complete at least one shift on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday will receive 5 tickets to Friends & Family Night.

For the cost of one box of cereal, ticket holders are offered this early opportunity to shop the tremendous bargains at the Rummage Sale. The cereal we collect will go to the Resurrection Hunger Ministry to help with food insecurity throughout the metropolitan Kansas City area.

Friends & Family Cereal Night is from 5-8 pm in the Student Center in Building C. A ticket and a box of cereal is required for entry. Just like the rest of the Rummage Sale, the pre-sale is cash only.

Grants & Surplus Partners

Proceeds from the United Methodist Women Rummage Sale go toward programming and grant-giving, all of which target women, children and youth. You can see how past grants have put hope, faith and love in action.

Grant applications will be available during September, after all proceeds from the sale are tallied and the grant team is assembled.

Every year, we give all of the unsold items to a local organization that can use the goods. This partner brings a truck to load out the items, with the help of volunteers. Our Surplus Partner for this year is Big Brothers Big Sisters!
