Resurrection is partnering with the American Red Cross to host a shelter if needed in the event of a local disaster. We need trained volunteers who can assist in a time of crisis.

This Red Cross Shelter training event will introduce volunteers to the guidelines and procedures for setting up, running and closing a shelter during a disaster.  We are looking for 100 people that are willing to be trained, then serve in the shelter if needed.

Only requirements: a desire to serve God while working side-by-side with community members, to be a team player, and to be flexible for whatever comes your way.

Training takes place over two Saturdays -

Saturday, November 2nd 9am-1pm in Room B252 above the Foundry, Leawood Campus

  • Shelter Fundamentals
  • Standards & Procedures of Sheltering

Saturday, November 9thOR 16th (choose one) 9am-3pm in Room B206 (KiDS COR wing), Leawood Campus

  • Shelter Operations Simulation
  • Hands on exercise in all phases of sheltering: opening, closing, feeding, and housing
