One of the most incredible gifts of our congregation is the way that we support members of the community with special needs. Just last week, I received this beautiful gift from our Sonflower Adult Learning Program. They planted tomato plants and shared them with the staff. Mine is now planted in the back yard, and we have been attending to it, excited for the cherry tomatoes (Freddy’s favorite) it will bring this summer.

If you are looking for a way to serve and be blessed in immeasurable ways, I want to invite you to volunteer with our Matthew’s Ministry Family Night Out this Saturday, June 18. Family Night Out provides parents and caregivers of those with special needs a well-deserved night off. Currently, we have 40 registrants, another 32 individuals who are on the waitlist and want to participate but are unable to do so without the additional help from volunteers like you. I had the privilege of assisting with our Christmas Celebration, and I have to say that I was smiling from ear to ear the entire time. As a volunteer, you will be trained, fed, and entertained. This is our “Country & Western”-themed night, so there will be lots of cowboy hats, boots and line dancing. The time commitment is from 4:30-8 pm, and you can sign up here.

I look forward to seeing all of you in worship this weekend and sharing a message on Joseph. And don’t forget to invite the men in your life to join us, as we’ll be celebrating them and handing out a special sweet treat as a part of this weekend in worship.

With gratitude,

Pastor Wendy
