Living With Courageous Kindness

Shortly after pulling into the church parking lot on Sunday morning, I received a message that a member of our congregation had just learned her daughter had passed away. In shock, she was writing asking for prayers. I picked up the phone to call and pray with her, hoping to find words of hope to share. I held it together while we talked and prayed on the phone, but after hanging up the phone, the tears began to flow and my heart was so full of pain for this family. As I sat in worship, I kept thinking of this family, and then as I watched a video of Mindy Corporon sharing her story, I was filled once again with hope. Mindy experienced the unimaginable, when in 2014 her father and son were murdered. In her book, Healing a Shattered Soul, Mindy takes readers on her journey of healing and her search for inspiration and hope. She will share this story with all of us on Wednesday night at 6:30 in the Foundry and I hope that you will plan to join us. Register here.

This will be the first in a series of 3 conversations with members of our congregation who will share how they have answered the call to courageous kindness. On October 20, Anna Sarol shares her story of how a spinal cord injury during gymnastics practice forever changed her life, and on Wednesday, October 27, our Middle School Director, Todd Davidson, will speak about his journey with cancer. These are three inspiring stories that you won’t want to miss!

Finally, don’t forget, we are starting up a new series, The You You Were Meant To Be: Growing in the Fruit of the Spirit. Start filling out your bingo card for a special treat and plan to hang around after worship for some fall fun.

Thank you for the privilege of being your pastor,
