As followers of Jesus Christ, we must condemn racism in every form, whether unconscious or conscious, systemic or arbitrary. Racism is a sin, and it is antithetical to the gospel.
— Church of the Resurrection's Racial Justice statement
Today Pastor Cheryl Jefferson Bell officially begins her new position as our Pastor of Social Justice! This is part of a vision we believe God is calling us to pursue: closing the justice and kindness gap in our city. Pastor Cheryl will lead our efforts to address injustice in our community and world, increase diversity in our congregation and decrease polarization in Kansas City.
As we move toward a weekend of celebrating our country's freedom, let's remember the work we still have ahead of us to ensure justice and freedom for all.
"As Christians, we are called to demonstrate the courage and conviction to end racism."
In Part 3 of our series on Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, Pastor Cheryl focuses on worry. Know anyone who does that? Invite them to worship online with us this weekend:
