Be the Church!

We hope you are doing well. Last night in his weekly Facebook Live Devotion, Pastor Adam shared how Jesus calls us to be his hands and feet and to look to see where there is suffering, pain, fear – and to see what we can do about it.

God uses us as instruments to bring healing, hope and grace to other people – to Be the Church! This edition of enews shares some of the ways we can do this.

This weekend in worship...

During this time of social distancing and staying home, we all struggle with how we are using our time in this "new normal." Join us this weekend for worship and Pastor Adam's message, "Breaking Bread, Kingdom Values."

Call, text, email or tag a friend to invite them to worship ONLINE with us this weekend.

Our mission and ministry are needed now more than ever. If you can, please continue your financial support of the work of the church. You can give online, set up recurring giving or mail a check to the church at Church of the Resurrection, Attn: Finance, 13720 Roe Ave, Leawood, KS 66224.

In compliance with city and county Stay-at-Home Orders to help stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus, all Resurrection buildings will be closed to the public. Some essential operations will continue, supported by a limited number of on-site staff and volunteers practicing social distancing and regular sanitation.

The church phone line, 913-897-0120, and emails will be answered during virtual office hours: Monday - Friday, 9 am - 5 pm. For after-hours pastoral care emergencies, call 913-544-0799.

We will continue to provide updates here and as a notification on our website about the ways we are offering connection for our Resurrection church family and those joining us online. As a reminder, you can access website notifications at any time by clicking the bell icon in the main menu.

Ways to Serve

Friday Drive-Up Donation Drop-offs

We are partnering with other organizations that are offering assistance in our community by hosting these Drive-Up Donation Drop-offs at our Resurrection locations. Watch for new opportunities as they develop.

For this Friday, March 27, 9-11 am, we are accepting drop-off donations at Resurrection Leawood for Cross-Lines. To donate, drive up to the truck in the circle drive on the south side of Building A and a volunteer will take your donations out of your car.

Please donate non-expired, unopened food products and use proper hand-washing and sanitation techniques before you drop them off. Here is the list of items needed.

DIY Serve Opportunities

We are the church – which means reaching out to our community and helping those in need. Click here to see the current opportunities to serve. These opportunities are being continually updated by our Missions team, so please check back often for ways you can serve from your home as well as helping with community needs.

Caring for our Church and Community

BE the Church

We encourage you to reach out to others who may be feeling isolated and lonely. Call, text, talk in person (6 feet apart), send cards and letters – let's Be the Church for our community.

We ask all of our volunteers to consider obtaining Safe Gatherings certification, especially if you are interested in directly interacting with vulnerable populations. More information about Safe Gatherings can be found here.

Resurrection Recovery Ministry

During this time of social distancing, please click here for testimonies and resources including online meetings. Many support groups will continue to meet using video chats; check with your leader about how to get connected in that way. As always, our Recovery Community is in our prayers.

Corona Care Calling Tree

In his sermon last weekend, Pastor Adam asked for volunteers to help us reach out by phone to every member of Resurrection. Thanks to the overwhelming response, we will begin calling each Resurrection member and visitor this week. Be ready for a friendly call from a Resurrection volunteer or staff member to check on you and see if there’s anything the church can do for you.

Bless Our Senior Adults

Looking for a way to help seniors in our community stay connected? Write a letter, send a card or color a picture and mail it to someone who would be blessed by your time and attention. Sign up here.

Pray this week for...

Staff in healthcare facilities, grocery and other stores with items we all need, police and other city/county/federal offices and services, insurance companies, HR/payroll/benefits, truck drivers and all those who continue to be at their workplaces providing essential services and products.

Check here for more ways you can Be the Church in our community by helping area organizations.

Request Prayer

Please continue to submit your prayer requests online. We have a team dedicated to praying for these requests.

Request Care

If you would like to speak with one of our Care Pastors or another member of our team, please call 913-544-0712. After standard office hours, call our emergency pager at 913-544-0799. Find more information on requesting on our website.

Be counted in the Census...

Do you know all the ways the census is used? It's more than you may think, including ensuring our community will get its fair share of federal
funds for healthcare, housing, education and nutrition programs and we are represented adequately in government. So you are "serving by censusing." You can complete the census online.

And please remember to reach out and help friends and family who may struggle with doing this online or don't have access to a computer or internet.
