Daily Scripture

Colossians 3:12-15

As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful.

Our sermon series on relationships have been a powerful reminder of God’s gracious love. As I reflect over the series and look forward to the coming ones, I am reminded of all types of relationships. I am reminded of the relationship with my high school graduate. Our relationship is centered on our love of Christ. I remember when I took her to Kindergarten the first time. It was gut-wrenching for me, but she was more than ready. I watched her grow into a lovely girl. I was so proud when she received her third grade bible, participated as an acolyte and was confirmed. She continued to grow in her faith and I prayed that God would always remain at her side. We have learned how to resolve conflict and speak kindly to one another, we have forgiven each other in times of stress or anger, we have accepted each other as we are and we have been gentle with each other.

My prayer for all relationships is healing and wholeness. Often, we can get caught up in the stress and chaos of our day. It is my prayer that you seek forgiveness in relationships. I pray for healthy relationships, centered on Christ, that are full of grace, kindness and lots of laughter.

Lord of our hearts,
Help us to be wise in our relationships, help us to forgive easily, to be mindful of our words and actions and to encourage one another. I pray for those seeking restoration of friendships and relationships that boundaries are honored and grace is shown. I pray for reconciliation and love. You reign in our hearts forevermore, Amen.
