The purpose of Summer Internship Program at The Church of the Resurrection is to help college students and young adults explore their interest in ministry through hands-on experiences in a church setting. For questions about the internship program, please email Randy Meyer.

Actively participate in various discipleship and evangelism environments such as large group classes, small groups, Sunday educational opportunities, curriculum development and volunteer leadership training events. Will attend weekly leadership team meetings and meet with each member of the discipleship leadership team at least once in order to get an understanding of each area of specialization.
From behind the scenes brainstorming, lesson planning, and supply preparation, to volunteer coordination, communication, and training, this experience will be hands on. You will be present at all KiDSCOR programming and will have the opportunity to build relationships with families, kids, and volunteers. You will participate in team meetings and will play a critical part in creating a dynamic children's ministry.
You will experience summer camps, weekend programming, and other special events for kids that take place through the summer. Interns will have the opportunity to do prep work for each event as well as lead kids during the actual event. Interns will also have the opportunity to attend KiDSCOR staff meetings and see all that goes into make a successful ministry with elementary kids!
Be mentored and engaged in providing care for our congregation, including, but not limited to, visitation for hospital and care homes, responding to prayer requests, and connecting one-on-one with congregants to ensure that they feel supported in their time of need.
You will also have an opportunity to assist in hospitality for programs happening through the summer, such as the Recovery Ministry, Grief Ministry, or other classes taking place. As desired, you will have a chance to shadow other pastoral ministry opportunities such as weddings, funerals and pastoral counseling. There will be an opportunity to participate in special projects for Congregational Care involving organization, special events and worship services.
Assist in all aspects of video production – scriptwriting, shooting and editing. Some experience with video production and familiarity with Adobe Premier editing software is necessary. The video team supports worship and ministry on all four campuses.
Assist in all aspects of communication – print, video and digital, with a primary focus on the website and social media. Strong writing skills and experience with creating content for websites and social media would be helpful. The Communications team supports worship and ministry on all four campuses.
Will have the opportunity to gain skills across a broad range of career paths: event planning and implementation (including managing a budget), communicating effectively, volunteer management, worship logistics, and providing excellent customer service. Primary responsibilities will include planning and implementing summer fellowship/outreach events, with participation in weekend worship set-up and services behind-the-scenes, and providing support to Guest Connections staff in ministries ranging from worship hospitality and visitor follow-up to re-connection of current members.
Learn about Human Resources by assisting our team with projects related to benefits, staffing, and training. Projects will include research and recommendations for best practices when it comes to time-off benefits, training topics, and recruitment strategies. Additionally, the intern will assist with screening applicants, conducting reference checks, and handling new hire processing. Working alongside Human Resources professionals, there will be opportunities for input and management of data for our HRIS, exploration of recruitment sources and techniques, and preparation of resources and materials for employees and supervisors.
Work with individuals with special needs from children to adults in a variety of ministry settings, including Sunday school, Bible study, respite events, VBC and adult enrichment activities.
This position will support both Local and Global Mission Ministries serving opportunities while focusing on a few major projects. Our intern will assist with enhancing volunteer engagement in a variety of ministries (including Bless the School, Global Serve Trips, School Supply & Uniform Drive, Schools Furnishings Hope and Missions training initiatives). Administrative duties will include assisting with event and program planning, evaluating and making recommendations for communications including social media. Flexible schedule is needed as there will be some weekend and evening events.
The Resurrection Overland Park Summer Intern would begin their summer helping to prepare for Vacation Bible Camp and then help with summer camp. Following VBC, this intern would continue to aid in different KiDSCOR jobs, as well as in the Resurrection Overland Park Food Pantry.
Assist in leading big events for 6th – 12th grades, such as helping on domestic mission trips and being cabin leaders at summer camp at YouthFront. On a weekly basis interns will help lead weekly Bible Studies, help teach and lead Sunday School small groups, and assist with different fun events such as high school ultimate Frisbee and middle school kickball nights. Interns will grow in the areas of small group leadership, public speaking, relationship building & discipleship, and logistical event planning.
