Greetings RezDowntowners,

Happy Valentine's Day! I hope your day is off to a great start. Given that it is a day and weekend devoted to love, I thought it would be a fitting weekend to conclude our series on the irresistible power of Jesus by taking a look at the depth of his love.

I'll preach live this weekend a message that will focus on Jesus's new commandment, the new mandatum – namely, the call to love one another. This is our defining command. This one command is the ethical standard for our daily life and it has the power to change the world. This is something that I have had the privilege of witnessing countless times as you have sought to live out your faith here in the heart of the city. This weekend I'm excited to share more stories from members of our community, as we conclude this series with a message called The Irresistible Power of One-Anothering.

Also, at the conclusion of the sermon this weekend, I'll offer each person in attendance an opportunity to engage with (or, rather, to become) a part of that beautiful steel heart hanging in our sanctuary. I hope you'll invite someone and join us as we celebrate the perfect love of Christ. You won't want to miss it!

Serve Saturday is tomorrow, Feb. 15, 9 am

Are you looking for an easy way to meet new people and serve the KC community for a few hours? I want to encourage you to invite family, friends, and colleagues to join you at Resurrection Downtown for Serve Saturday, tomorrow at 9 am!

Learn more about the serve sites ahead of time at our sign up page or just meet at our 1522 McGee location to choose a serve site. Signing up isn’t required but it does help us better prepare the experience for you and our partners. Come early for light refreshments and don’t forget to invite someone.

Email Pastor Patrick.McLaughlin@cor.org with questions, or if you plan to bring a group of 5 or more.

Students Going Snow Tubing

RezLife is going snow tubing at Snow Creek! Students grades 6–12, get ready to glide down some steep, snow-covered hills at Snow Creek! Bundle up, bring friends, and meet us at Snow Creek Ski Area at 10 am NEXT weekend on Saturday, Feb. 22. Register to let us know you're coming at cor.org/downtown/events. For questions, reach out to Sarah.Elliott@cor.org.

Lastly, I want to congratulate all of our Resurrection Downtown members who had perfect attendance in 2019 and those who got an ‘A’ in worship attendance (90% or more)! Thank you so much for your commitment - we couldn't do what we do without each of you.

There is so much going on in the life of our church, almost too much to mention. That said, I am grateful for you and for the ways that you demonstrate your faith daily. I hope you have an amazing Friday and I look forward to seeing you in worship again this weekend!

With Grace, Peace and God's Holy Adventure,

Scott
