Greetings RezDowntowners,

I hope you're having a great Friday! Wendy and I decided a few weeks back to take a few days off (Thursday and Friday) after what's been a pretty hectic start to the year. We have enjoyed some long walks, quiet time at home, and of course, the sunshine! I hope you will have a chance to enjoy some downtime this weekend, as we have found it to be quite restorative.

Earlier this week, a group of 70 of our elected church leaders met by Zoom. I'm excited to let you know that among the topics discussed was the return to in-person worship! We have been monitoring the COVID numbers for the Kansas City area on a daily basis, and (like most of you) have seen a dramatic drop in new infections. Hospitalizations are declining as well. Most area school districts are returning to in-person learning and restrictions are easing in most municipalities.

After lots of discussion and consideration, we're excited to announce that we plan to return to in-person worship on Sunday, March 14! This will be much like when we opened up in October, with reduced capacity (50%), masks and physical distancing will be required, and the services will be touchless (no bulletins, offering plates or greeting). However, we will be open in time for the second half of Lent and, of course, in time for an in-person Easter! We are excited and will be working to make sure we are ready to welcome you!

This weekend in worship we'll continue in our Lenten series on the Gospel of Mark with a message entitled "Calling, Healing and Casting Out Demons." Please tune in at cor.org/live starting at 5 pm on Saturday or at 7:30 am, 9:15 am, 11 am or 5 pm on Sunday, or on our YouTube channel, on-demand all day Sunday. If you’re in the Kansas City area, you can also catch worship on local television channel KMCI 38 the Spot at 8 am or 11 am.

Featured Class: The Gospel of Mark

A reminder about our Wednesday night study: If you are not already part of a small group studying Mark right now, I encourage you to join Resurrection’s pastors online on Wednesday nights to journey through the Gospel of Mark. Visit cor.org/connect for more info and to request the Zoom link! This will be a great opportunity.

Winter Warmth Donation Locations

If you are able, please consider donating warm clothing, coats or other requested items to shelters in Kansas City. If you are unable to make a physical donation, consider donating funds online or purchasing items off the organization's wish list. See the list of local shelters and donate online, here.

Save the Date - City-Wide Easter Egg Hunt 2021

Mark your calendars for our annual City-wide Easter Egg Hunt, Saturday, March 27, 9-11 am! We're planning a morning of fun for the whole family. This is always a popular event in the KC community, and we are so glad to be able to hold it again this year (with Covid protocols in place). More details and registration coming soon. For now, save this date!

Baptisms

Finally, if you have not been baptized and are interested in learning more about baptism at Resurrection, please use this link to let us know, and we’ll send you details about an upcoming special baptism class.

I'm grateful for all of you and I look forward to seeing at least some of you in person in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, I hope you have a great weekend!

With Grace, Peace and God's Holy Adventure,

Scott
