Make Memories in May: Serve Opportunities, Groups, and more!

May can be a flurry of special events, can’t it? In the midst of your busy schedules, I encourage you to think about how you’ll be serving in the community this month. Serve Saturday (third Saturday of every month) gives you a chance to volunteer at some of our local mission partners across the metro. This is a great entry point for community service if you don’t know where to begin. After some time, you might find a favorite agency and begin a volunteer connection there outside of Serve Saturday as well!

We also hope this is an easy way to invite a friend on this journey, as we know serving might be an easy invitation for anyone in your life. The webpage gives a bit of information about each agency where you could serve, what types of work you will be doing, and where to meet. Our partner agencies love to have some advance notice of how many volunteers are coming so signing up two weeks out can be a great help.

At its conception, the Resurrection Downtown congregation had a regular rhythm of serving together before we even began a weekly worship service. I think that’s why service is still at the heart of who we are as a congregation. What good is our faith if we are not outwardly focused, seeking to bless our neighbors and helping Kansas City look more like God’s kingdom?

Take a look at May’s Serve Saturday options here, cor.org/localimpact, and check out the rest of the newsletter for other ways to live out your faith in the next couple weeks!

Blessings,
Anne
