Greetings RezDowntowners,

It is great to be writing you this morning after another week in ministry here in downtown KC. It is the Friday before (the day before) the Chiefs' first playoff game and I'm getting excited. This weekend we're continuing our look at this game of football and how we might find in it, lessons from faith that will help us in the game of life.

This week's emphasis will focus squarely upon the power of the crowd and the importance of teamwork. For those of you who weren't able to join us last weekend, we gave away KC Chiefs flags at the end of every service, but this week we will have more fun giveaway items... something for our children in KiDSCOR and something for adults in worship! I hope you'll invite friends, wear red, and join us.

Also, on Saturday night, since the Chiefs game will be in progress, please know that we will switch over to the game's final minutes immediately following the Benediction. It will be a great way to experience the best of both worlds: worship and playoff football.

Candlelight Christmas Eve Offering

Many of you have been asking me about the results of our Candlelight Christmas Eve Offering. I found out yesterday that Pastor Adam will be sharing our totals across all campuses in worship this weekend. Please join us this weekend to hear about how God is using your generosity to change the world and to impact children in poverty here in Kansas City.

Cultural Context Training

In addition to worship we have a lot going on around the church. I would love for you to consider joining Resurrection Downtown and community leaders at 10:30 am tomorrow morning for a Cultural Context Training focused on how best to navigate cultural differences as Christians in Kansas City.

This training is required for those who volunteer regularly with our partner schools and recommended for anyone who wants to take a step further in their discipleship journey. Lunch is provided at noon for those who register ($5 donation suggested). Please register here. Email Pastor Patrick.McLaughlin@cor.org with questions!

C.O.P.E. Simulation

Tomorrow we will also hold C.O.P.E., a poverty simulation that offers insights to the causes, challenges, and next steps to participate in the elimination of poverty in our community. Join us 2–4:30 pm for this experience. Whether you attend the Cultural Context training beforehand, or would prefer to join us just for this event, please register here to let us know you’ll be coming.

Getting Started at Resurrection

Lastly, whether you’re new to Resurrection Downtown or have been attending a while, join us this Sunday, Jan. 13, immediately after our 10:45 am service at 1522 McGee for Getting Started. Learn about how the church got started and ways you can get involved. Light snacks will be served – no need to RSVP! Reach out to Pastor Matt.Bisel@cor.org with questions.

I am excited to see where God continues to lead us in worship and I cannot wait to see you this weekend, rain, ice, snow or shine!  Go Chiefs!

With Grace, Peace and God's Holy Adventure,

Scott
