Closing the Generation Gap

The big story this week has been Vacation Bible Camp! VBC is one of our main strategies for closing what we call “the generation gap” – the loads of young people in Kansas City who don’t yet know about God’s love. It was loud, messy, silly, and overall, incredible! Here is an update from our awesome KiDSCOR Director, Sarah Elliott:

“It was an amazing week of The Great Adventure at camp and for our at-home adventurers! We had about 75 total kids join the Downtown location for in-person and Zoom VBC and about 50 adults join as volunteers! Kids and volunteers both had a blast as we learned about the great adventures of Moses and the Israelites. We learned that we are not alone, to never give up, to serve God and others, and to share God’s love. At the top of this email you can see a picture of everyone who helped and attended in person for the week! Thanks for praying for us all week.”

Our work doesn’t stop here! We continue this work of closing the generation gap every Sunday morning, so please consider whether God might be calling you to serve with our children in KiDSCOR. If you have questions or want more information, please find Sarah in the lobby after worship, email her at or fill out the interest form below. I had many reminders this week of how rewarding it is to help children grow in faith!

Thanks for all you are already doing to make this an incredible summer. This is a special community and I’m so grateful to be your pastor.
