A Great Opportunity to Intercede for Others

Greetings RezDowntowners,

I hope this message finds you doing well. It's a beautiful morning to open up the windows or better yet to get outside, take a walk and give thanks for the day.

At the same time, it is a great opportunity to pray and intercede for those whose lives have been impacted by the continuing wildfires out west and flooding in the southeast. I was on a call with someone living in Northern California on Wednesday and listening to him narrate what life has been like under the threat of fire, smoke and ash was surreal. Please continue to be in prayer for all of those families while giving thanks and making the most of the day we've been given.

This weekend in worship, we will continue our series on Joy in the Midst of Adversity and we'll be focusing on pressing on to the goal. It will be a timely message and I hope you'll join us online at starting on Saturday evening at 5 pm or on Sunday at 7:30 am, 9:15, 11 or 5 pm. You can also find our worship on TV at 8 am and 11 am on local Kansas City channel 38 the Spot (KMCI).

Kelly and I will be hosting the pre-worship experience again this weekend, so if you want to tune in a bit early online, I encourage you to do so, knowing that you'll see some familiar faces in addition to worship.

Interested in joining the church? Also happening this weekend is our first Coffee with the Pastors gathering since the stay-at-home order began! If you're interested in learning more about the history of Resurrection, the United Methodist church, and becoming a member, we encourage you to join us. Please register here to let us know you'll attend. So far, we have over 500 people who have registered to be a part of this gathering, which is shaping up to be one of our biggest Coffee with the Pastors ever. I hope you'll consider joining us!

30th Anniversary & In-Person Worship

We are excited to be getting ready for our 30th Anniversary celebration, and along with that, getting back to in-person worship on Sunday, Oct. 4! This is the same weekend, thirty years ago, that we held our first worship service at Church of the Resurrection. Here is a webpage where you can review the safety protocols we will have in place. Registration will be required – to register to worship at 1601 Grand on Oct. 4, please sign up here!

I am grateful for you and look forward to being able to join back together for worship in just a few more weeks. In the meantime, know that we are here for you and want to walk alongside you no matter what you are facing, so please don't hesitate to reach out and let us know how we can offer care. Have a great Friday and I'll see you online this weekend.

With Grace, Peace and God's Holy Adventure,
