Welcome to the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection. We hope you’ll take a minute to explore all the ministries and opportunities we offer and plan to visit one of our campuses in Leawood, Olathe, Blue Springs or Downtown Kansas City this weekend or join us for worship online.
In 1990 Resurrection was a small, upstart church with a big dream of becoming a church that welcomes thinking people who were not actively involved in a church. Our first 25 years have been an amazing journey with thousands of people finding greater hope, purpose and meaning in their lives here. And, they’ve found that a church like this can quickly become a great place for personal connections and relationships that will last a lifetime.
The life of our church is guided by three statements:
Come dream with us as we continue our journey of knowing, loving and serving God in the greater Kansas City community and the world.
When Jesus spoke of the Kingdom of God, he was speaking of the world as it should be. The driving passion of Church of the Resurrection's Vision 2030 is to close the gap between what is and what should be in our lives, our community and our world between now and the year 2030.

Our fourth Resurrection campus was formed in Blue Springs in 2010, when the already-established congregation of North Spring United Methodist Church approached us about becoming a part of the Resurrection community. We were able to begin this new campus on a firm foundation with an existing building and property and nearly 100 people in the core group. Resurrection Blue Springs provided an opportunity for this church to draw upon our resources to reach even more people in this community.
At the first worship service Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010, more than 200 people filled the pews in the sanctuary to hear Pastor Adam preach, and Resurrection Blue Springs was officially launched on November 28 of that year. Talented musicians perform a blend of contemporary and traditional music for worship, creating a refreshingly casual service.
Campus Pastor Penny Ellwood led this eager congregation in developing ministries and programs and a sense of community and mission. As the word got out about our unique church that welcomed folks who were looking for a church home – no matter where they came from – more and more people joined in helping to shape and grow Resurrection Blue Springs. Worship attendance outgrew the Sanctuary and a second worship service was added in January 2013. Mission opportunities, community events and programming for children, youth and adults, create a church where everyone can find a place to serve, learn, grow and receive care.
We are committed to growing along with our community – caring for and serving our neighbors.Campus Pastor Penny Ellwood
