Advent is a time to prepare for the celebration of the birth of Jesus. But often, the anticipation of Christmas gets overshadowed by the hustle and bustle of holiday preparations.

This year, join family, friends and neighbors each weekend in December as we sing carols, light candles, and read the biblical stories of prophets and angels, Mary and Joseph, and the events leading to the birth of Jesus. We’ll even have special Advent activities for children to prepare them.

The King is Born

Make the weekends of December – Advent – part of your family tradition as together we reflect upon the significance of the Christmas story for our lives today. Whether you're a regular at Resurrection or this would be your first time, we have a place for you.

Candlelight Christmas Eve Services

The culmination of the Christmas season at Resurrection is our Candlelight Christmas Eve service. Plan to share in one of the most beautiful and meaningful worship services of the year. Each service has beautiful music, a message of hope and the cherished tradition of passing the candlelight – the light of Christ – as we sing Silent Night together.

For our regular weekly service times, information about worship for children and students, and more check out our First Visit page.

Christmas Eve Offering

Since 2007, funds raised through the annual Christmas Eve offering have given hope to children and families living in poverty in Kansas City and around the world. The 2019 Candlelight Christmas Eve Offering will support strategic local and global initiatives in Kansas City and around the world. Two examples of the projects and partnerships our offering will fund are:

  • helping students at our partner schools with food security and literacy initiatives, and
  • expanding our partnership with ZOE Empowers in Malawi to providing an additional 500 orphaned children with mentors, resources and opportunities succeed.
