Worshiping in Winter

Greetings Resurrection Blue Springs,

I woke up this morning to the dings of my weather alerts all going off. It looks like it could be an interesting few days of weather coming up! This might be a good opportunity to remind you that at Resurrection we rarely, if ever, cancel worship services due to weather. With that being said, in the event of inclement weather, we encourage you to use caution in making the decision to drive to the church. While nothing quite compares to being physically present with a community of worshippers, this is when having an online option is helpful. Don’t forget to register your attendance there if you take advantage of online worship. You can watch last week's sermon on the website, too, if you missed it.

Last Sunday we had a great turnout for worship for the start of our New Year and our new series What Would Jesus Say. There were 350 in worship and another 100 in KiDSCOR and youth. I would love to see those numbers continue to grow as we explore these important topics!

Throughout January, we are examining the most urgent issues of our times, as identified in surveys and interviews with the Millennials and Gen Z of our community. This week we will take a look at the mental health crisis in our nation. Join us as we explore ways that all generations can work together to improve resources and environments for good mental health. I encourage you to invite someone who might be interested, or share the video on your social media.

Make sure you check out the classes beginning in the next couple of weeks as well. This Sunday our adult Sunday school class will resume their study of Genesis at 9:15 am at Sinclair's restaurant. Making Sense of the Bible is starting its second session on Tuesday night and How Happiness Happens begins the following Sunday. It's not too late to join me in our Revisiting Confirmation class on Sunday nights at 5 pm either. If you are interested in getting connected to a small group, I encourage you to contact Mike Ash, our Community Life Director. He can help you find the best fit.

There is more information below on these and other opportunities for service and community. Dads and grandpas, be sure you check out the Daddy Daughter Dance. The Frozen theme is going to be a lot of fun this year and a sure hit with the young girls in your family. Invite a friend or neighbor to join you with his daughter or grandchild too. It will be a great evening.

Wear your red and join us in worship on Sunday!

In Christ,

Penny
