The Unique Strengths and Core Values that Drive Our Mission

Greetings Resurrection Blue Springs,

With Super Bowl behind us, this week we turn from football to a new and exciting subject: Vision 2030. Over the last twelve months, we have embarked on a vision discernment process, asking where God will lead our church over the next eleven years when we will celebrate our 40th anniversary. Forty years is significant in that we will have completed our first generation (in biblical terms). In an effort not to become complacent and to be posed and ready for God to use us for greater things, we’ve taken this year to dream and assess our strengths and weaknesses.

We’ve re-examined our vision and purpose and worked to identify the unique strengths and core values that drive our mission and ministry. We’ve solicited your feedback in leader gatherings, church-wide surveys and round-table discussions to faithfully discern where and what we believe God is calling our congregation to do and be as a community of Christ followers.

This Sunday Pastor Adam will share the work we’ve done and our hopes and dreams for what Resurrection might look like in the year 2030. He will lay out the initiatives we believe God is calling us to address in the next decade and our goals for Vision 2030. This is an important Sunday for all our members and those who call Resurrection their church home.

We hope you’ll make it a priority to be in worship as our goals are unveiled and the real work begins. This is an exciting time for us as a church, soon to be five campuses strong and spreading across our city!

Don’t forget, this Sunday we’re to bring back our nonperishable food donations for our Super Bowl food drive. These donations are going to help fight food insecurities here in Kansas City. If you don’t have time to shop, you can make a donation online at

One last thing, with the crowds we’ve had in worship of late, we’re asking our members to give our ushers a hand and sit towards the front of the sanctuary and move to the middle of the seating sections in order to allow seats for our guests. Thank you in advance for your help on this.

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

Grace and Peace,

Penny Ellwood
