Greetings Resurrection Blue Springs,
I’ve continued to smile every time I think of our Breakfast with Santa experience last Saturday. It was a wonderful start to our Advent season. If you have a good photo from the morning be sure and post it on our Facebook Page.
This Sunday we continue the journey toward Christmas as we light the second candle of Advent and continue our series Preparing the Way for Christmas with "God is Gracious." We’ll continue to follow the story of John the Baptist and how his life paved the way for Jesus. We’ll also have some special guests in worship – the Fountain City Chorale will be with us in both services to offer several choral selections during worship. This adult choir is under the talented direction of Tracy Ressiguie, the choral director at Staley High School.
There is something about music and singing that prepares our hearts to receive Christ. I'm hoping the choir’s music will bless you. We’ll also have our praise team leading us in Christmas music so you don’t want you to miss it! Another opportunity for singing the songs of Christmas will happen with Caroling at Sinclair’s this coming Tuesday night. There are also performances of Christmas at Resurrection happening through Sunday in Leawood.
We are just 16 days away from the first of our four Candlelight Christmas Eve services. Christmas Eve Worship is a wonderful time when many people find their way back to church or come for the first time.
We are expecting a full house and need many volunteers. Our services will be Sunday, Dec. 23 at 10:45 am and 3 pm, 5 pm & 7 pm on Monday, Dec. 24. Childcare will be provided at all services for 4 years and under, along with kids packets available each service. If you could pass out candles, volunteer in the nursery, greet guests, serve as ushers or provide hospitality to help us shine the light of Christ, please sign up to serve this Sunday. Also, if you’d like to donate a poinsettia in honor or memory of a loved one for our Christmas Eve services, the forms will be in our attendance notebooks on Sunday and you can leave them at Guest Connections.
If you have not had a chance to submit your 2019 pledge, please take a moment to go online and make your pledge or plan to fill out a pledge card in worship this Sunday. As Christians, we recognize that everything we have comes from God, and offering our gifts is a means of living into our faith and glorifying God in all we do. Your gifts makes possible the mission and ministry of Resurrection Blue Springs.
If you can't make it this Sunday or would like to hear more of the Fountain City Chorale, their free Holiday Concert is Sunday, December 16, 5:30 pm at St. Mary's Episcopal Church Kansas City, 1307 Holmes St, Kansas City, Missouri 64106.
And finally, here is the link for information about Saturday's visitation and memorial for church member, Debbie Thatcher. Please be in prayer for the Thatcher family as they celebrate her life tomorrow.
Grace and Peace for the journey,
Can’t find something? Let us help.
