Greetings Resurrection Blue Springs,

I’m very excited for our new sermon series, David: Shepherd, Warrior, Poet and King starting this Sunday. Senior Pastor Adam Hamilton and Rabbi Art Nemitoff of Congregation B’nai Jehudah, Kansas City’s oldest and largest synagogue have been in the Holy Land this week filming for this new four part  series on the life of David.

This weekend in worship, we'll be focusing on David's identity as a shepherd, an unlikely candidate to be chosen as king. We’ll also take you to the Valley of Elah as we explore the words of the beloved 23rd Psalm written by David. Here’s a video of the series that I hope you will share with your friends and invite them to join you this weekend.

New Team Member

I’m happy to announce a new addition to our staff team!  Kirk Bryson has been hired as the new Technical Producer for Blue Springs.  Here’s a short bio as a way of introduction:

Kirk Bryson has been with Resurrection Downtown for nearly two years as Technical Production Assistant. After growing up with years of experience as a church and entertainment industry musician, he graduated from University of Central Missouri with a degree in Music Technology. Kirk has enjoyed putting his skills to use at Resurrection and he is really looking forward joining the team at Blue Springs as the Technical Producer. His wife Deborah is an elementary music teacher in North Kansas City School District. He currently lives in Gladstone, MO with his wife Deborah and two daughters Lucy (age 7) and Penny (age 4).

Stop by the production booth and give him a warm welcome on Sunday!

The forecast for tomorrow morning has a high percentage for rain so unfortunately we’re cancelling our garden work at Drumm Farm. I encourage you instead to consider joining our Christmas in October team. Each fall we partner with CIO to rehabilitate lower-income homes in the KC area at no cost to the homeowner. Next Saturday, Oct. 13, we'll help with winterizing, painting, yard cleanup and minor repairs. (LAST CHANCE!) If you're interested in helping, but haven't signed up yet, email or see Maribeth King or Bill Deramcy our CIO House Captains after worship this Sunday!

Bill and I have our team set and we are so excited for the TGIF Road Rally tonight! All Road Rally participants will need to get kids checked in by 5:30 pm and gather in the sanctuary no later than 5:45 pm for instructions. Flag goes down at 6 pm! Questions? Contact Diane Enlow.

Finally, if you’ve enjoyed the releases from the Resurrection Worship Collective, you don't want to miss "Perfect Love," the most recent release (the 3rd of 6 songs to be produced). The COR Worship Collective includes members of Glory Revival, Vessel Worship, and leaders from every Resurrection campus worship team. Be sure to check it out and share it online!

I look forward to seeing you in worship!

Grace and Peace,

Penny Ellwood
