Greetings Resurrection Blue Springs,
Yesterday I walked through the backyard and noticed the daffodils emerging from the black soil. I am always fascinated by the thought of what is taking place deep in the cold, black earth: the churning, the striving, the birthing of new life. We can’t yet see it fully, but we know it is waiting for us.
On Wednesday, we marked the beginning of a new season of Lent, a season of preparation and intensified spiritual practices anticipating Easter and the promise of the Resurrection, new life coming from death. New life coming from death is a cycle repeated frequently in our lives. It’s how God works and is seen most clearly in Jesus’ suffering, death, resurrection and ascension. This year, more so than others, with all that is going on in the Church, we need this reminder that God’s grace, love and goodness cannot be stopped.
This Lenten season we are spending our time of preparation by exploring the five essential practices of Christian living. For the next six weeks, we'll be on The Walk unpacking these essential practices of the Christian faith as a way of preparing our hearts and lives for Easter. We’ll also be gathering on Wednesday nights at 6:30 pm to discuss each of these practices and invite you to follow along in daily reflection through the GPS or to download a specially created Lenten Journal. We will have a limited quantity of printed journals available for purchase at Guest Services as well.
This Sunday Pastor Adam will kick off this series by preaching on the practice of worship and what it means to give thanks always. We'd love for you to invite your friends to join us for this series. Here is a video you can share. Also, don’t forget to set your clocks forward on Saturday as we “spring ahead” with the start of Daylight Saving Time.
As I conclude this note and gaze over a still snow covered and frozen lake, may I take this opportunity to remind us all that Easter is coming....
Grace and Peace,
Can’t find something? Let us help.
