Greetings Resurrection Blue Springs,
I want to thank everyone who helped to make last Sunday’s Trunk and Treat a great success. We had a beautiful afternoon and lots of creative trunks and characters to welcome our community children. By our best guesstimates we had well over 600 in attendance! Thank you to everyone who participated in the day or donated candy for us to hand out.
Many commented on how much they loved coming to our event each year. We even had a father call on Monday morning to tell us how much his family enjoyed the afternoon and to ask us to relay his thanks to all our volunteers. I am grateful for your commitment to reach out to our community. By these steps we show our care and make our community accessible for even greater transformation. Check out our Facebook page to see pictures of the day.
This Sunday we begin a new series entitled The Fruitful Life. Over the last year Pastor Adam has been following the seasons of planting, pruning, harvesting and production at one of our local vineyards. In ancient Israel grapes were a major agricultural product and because of their centrality in everyday life, vines, wine and vineyards are often used symbolically in Scripture.
Over the next four weeks, we’ll explore this imagery and what it teaches us about living fruitful lives and being good stewards. I hope you'll join us for worship and invite your friends to come. It’s going to be a great series! Also, don’t forget, Daylight Saving Time ends this Sunday, Nov. 4!
This Sunday JOY IN SERVING, our annual serving emphasis leading up to Thanksgiving and Christmas will begin with grocery bags to fill with Thanksgiving dinner items for our backpack ministry families here in Blue Springs. You can pick up a bag after worship with a list of items to purchase and return.
Speaking of our Backpacks ministry, you may be interested to know that we have picked up another area elementary school to serve along with our Harvesters partners. If you’d be willing to help pack or, better yet, deliver the tubs of food sacks, please let us know.
Finally, for those of you who’ve been enjoying the music from the COR Worship Collective, I want to invite you to check out the latest release. This one features our own Olivia and Mike Ash. Check out "Tis So Sweet" at theholyordinary.com. Watch, listen and share!
I look forward to seeing you this Sunday (and this evening at 6 pm, for those of you coming out for our TGIF Mystery Dinner)!
Grace and Peace,
Can’t find something? Let us help.
