Greetings Resurrection Blue Springs!

This weekend we continue our focus on practicing loving kindness for our neighbors. Saturday morning we have a drop-off from 9 -11 am at our campus for the collection of our 30 for 30 Food Drive items. We’re encouraging everyone who is able to donate either 30 pounds of food or $30, which will be distributed through our local partners.

During the food drive drop off we will also have a notary on-site to notarize voting ballots. If you know of anyone who has need for this service, please let them know.

In worship this weekend, we’ll hear from guest preacher Bishop Michael Curry, Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church. Bishop Curry became known to millions of people around the world when he preached at the royal wedding in 2018. He oversees the Episcopal Church in the United States. His latest book is called Love is the Way.

This weekend he’ll help us see how the Church and Christians may hold the key to healing our country’s divide over as we live the way of love. He’ll be preaching by video and Pastor Adam will wrap up his message by inviting our people to be instruments of love. We will also be sharing in Holy Communion at the conclusion of the service.

I am excited that we will be welcoming back an in-person limited KiDSCOR for kids 4-years-old through 5th grade. As we have done for worship, there will be protocols to provide as safe an environment as possible. Per safety and health requirements, all children who attend in-person programs must pre-register every week. You can do that here. On October 25 we will be adding our 6th-12th grade as well. Click Here to review our KiDSCOR in-person programming protocols.

As I am writing, we still have room for about 30 more at our 11 am in-person worship service. If you are interest in joining in-person, please click here to reserve your spot now. It is helpful to us if you register early. Of course, you can continue to join us for weekend worship online at cor.org/live on Saturday at 5 pm, or on Sundays at 7:30 am, 9:15, am, 11 am, and 5 pm. You can also watch on TV, Channel 38 The Spot, at 8 am or 11 am.

We are also excited about our upcoming family-friendly trunk or treat experience next Saturday, 4-6 pm. Bill and I have our costumes ready and are working on our trunk. We could still use more support to make this fun for everyone. We need trunk entries, candy donations and volunteers for the event.

Children can come in costume and do a scavenger hunt through our drive-thru Trunk display. Every child will get a pre-packaged bag of candy and caramel apple kit and have the opportunity to enter our costume contest with a photo station stop. It's going to be lots of fun!

Finally, I want to encourage our youth parents to take a look at the information below for our Middle School and High School Metamorphsis retreats coming up in November. We have a team of adult volunteers looking forward to joining in with our youth at the retreats. We'll have more information next week about rezlife resuming on Sunday nights.

I'd love to know how you are personalizing your practices for our #Love Your Neighbor campaign. Drop me a note or post them to our Facebook page with a picture.

Blessings,

Pastor Penny
