Greetings Resurrection Blue Springs,

I hope you are managing to stay cool in this heat. We spent our Father’s Day afternoon with all the kids floating in the lake. It was fun and feels like summer is in full force. I love the opportunities to connect that summer allows.

We have several opportunities for you to connect in community this week across all ages. Tonight rezlife (our youth from 6th – 12th gr) are headed to Cool Crest for miniature golf. On Wednesday at 10 am, KiDSCOR families are invited to meet up at Wilbur Young Park (1100 SE Adams Dairy Parkway) for playtime.

Saturday is a big day with activities for both men and women. The men are gathering for Pickleball at 8 am at the Lake Tapawingo courts. The women are gathering for a garden tour with time for tips and questions. We’ll meet at the Albarelli home at 105 SW 15th Street in Blue Springs at 9 am. You can register and find more details for these events at cor.org/summer. Then on Saturday evening at 5 pm is the joy-filled commemoration of Juneteenth! We will have keynote speakers, exhibits and music led by Isaac Cates. This will take place in the sanctuary at our Leawood location. I hope you’ll plan to attend.

I don’t know about you, buI I have been enjoying this sermon series, which is taking a deeper dive through familiar Bible stories of the Old Testament. This week I will be preaching live again in Blue Springs as we look at the story of Jonah and the whale. We tend to think of this story as a simple fable, but I am discovering that the literature is packed with so much more. I am excited to share what I’m learning with you. I hope you’ll plan to join us on Sunday.

Have an awesome week.
