What's Your Favorite Fall Classic?

Greetings RezDowntowners,

Every Thursday for the past several weeks, my son Freddy has been a part of a small class called "Awesome Autumn" at his school. During their time together, they celebrate all that is great about autumn, and I have to tell you it is getting to be a bit contagious. Waking up today, it felt like autumn was upon us and I love it! I hope you will have a chance to get out and enjoy some of this cooler weather.

In worship this weekend I'll preach live on the 7th Commandment, "Do not commit adultery." Instead of focusing purely on adultery and how it is that we can avoid it, I'll spend a lot of time diving into what it means to be faithful in marriage. My hope is that this weekend will serve as a practical look at the covenant of Christian marriage and how God longs for us to commit to a love that lasts a lifetime. I hope you'll make plans to join us in worship and invite your married friends to join you as well. This will be a great message for anybody looking to enrich their marriage!

On a separate note, did you know that Pastor Anne has a blog where she shares inspirational and thought-provoking messages about finding the spiritual meaning in the ordinary? Check it out here and subscribe to always get the latest thoughts and posts from Anne.

Here are some things coming up in the life of our church...

Ladies, need to recharge? Join us for Rejuvenate, a wellness day for women of all ages and fitness levels tomorrow morning, Oct. 5 at 1601 Grand, 9 am - 1 pm. Register here, or just show up and register in the morning. Don’t forget a yoga mat, water bottle and towel. Reach out with any questions to Audrey Thrasher at audreythrasher31@gmail.com.

Calling all ages! The 2019 Resurrection Downtown kids Christmas performance will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 10, with auditions happening tomorrow, Oct. 5, 3 pm at 1601 Grand. This year, we'll have two adult roles as well as speaking and singing roles for kiddos. All kids will learn songs in KiDSCOR and are welcome to be part of the performance. We also welcome families and folks of all ages to audition for a brief variety show to take place in the lobby prior to the official program. Questions? Email Shalinn Silkwood at shalinnsilkwood@gmail.com or Sarah Elliott Sarah.Elliott@cor.org.

Whether you’re new to Resurrection Downtown or have been attending a while, join us this Sunday, Oct. 6, immediately after our 10:45 am service at 1522 McGee for Getting Started. Learn about how the church got started and ways you can get involved. No need to RSVP! Reach out to Pastor Matt.Bisel@cor.org with questions.

Finally, guys, please plan to join us for our Men's Morning Group (1st and 3rd Mondays, 6:30–7:45 am at 1522 McGee). We'll meet again this coming Monday, Oct. 7, the first Monday in October.

I am so excited to be preaching this weekend and will look forward to talking about adultery, fidelity and the call to live and love like Christ in all circumstances. Now I'm off to write while sipping on my favorite fall classic, a cup of Autumn Harvest from the Roasterie!

With Grace, Peace and God's Holy Adventure,

Scott
