Greetings RezDowntowners,

I hope this message finds you doing well. It is hard to believe that we haven't gathered together in person for three and half months. I have missed seeing you physically, and I have been longing for any opportunity I can find to connect.

Thursday nights are a great opportunity for that on Facebook at our Gatherings of Hope at 7 pm. If you haven't been able to tune in live, you can always go back and watch them after the fact. I would urge you to do that today if you can as Pastor Anne's message was great! Just check out our Facebook page and plan to tune in on Thursday nights at 7 pm.

After being able to preach last weekend for Father's Day weekend, I am excited to share that Pastor Adam will be continuing in our series about The Sermon on the Mount. He'll be speaking directly to what Jesus had to say about anger, adultery, keeping promises and responding to people who don’t like us. It will be a powerful way to look at this most prolific sermon. Invite friends and join us on Saturday at 5 pm, or on Sunday at 7:30 am, 9:15 am, 11 am and 5 pm!

Share our link to worship (cor.org/live) with friends and family on social media so they can tune in this weekend, or invite them to watch us on KSHB, channel 41 at 11 am. Also, if you feel so inclined, one of the things that Wendy and I are hoping to do is to invite neighbors over to worship with us in a small group at a social distance outdoors. I would encourage you to consider doing the same thing this weekend or perhaps on July 4th weekend!

Also, this past Monday, I began taking a short parental leave as Wendy headed back to work after taking nearly three months off to care for Poppy. Since she has headed back to work, I am going to take my turn in caring for our kiddos (Poppy is officially 3 months old today)! So, with that said, I will be out of the office for the next three weeks, however, during that time, I will continue leading the Thursday evening Men's group as well as participate in worship each weekend and on Thursdays over Facebook.

If you need anything in terms of care, please reach out to our office at 816-979-1330 and look connect with Pastor Anne, Pastor Matt or Pastor Patrick. We have a great team of leaders at Resurrection Downtown.

Finally, below, find some great opportunities to connect with our community...

Living Into the Beloved Community

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. popularized the notion of the “Beloved Community.” King envisioned the Beloved Community as a society based on justice, equal opportunity, and love of one’s fellow human beings. Join Pastors Tino, Cheryl and Darryl for the remainder of this online class as we explore together how to be a Beloved Community, Wednesdays, July 1 and 8, 6:30-8 pm via Zoom.

Register online to get the Zoom link.

Another Reason to Register for VBC "On-the-Go!"

On Saturday, July 18, from 9–10:30 am, we invite you to come to 1601 for a wild and crazy, drive-through, VBC On-the-Go Kit Pick Up and kick-off event! It's sure to be a fun time and might even include a mini donut truck, car window painting, games, giveaways, and more!

The staff will be there to share in the fun... don't miss it! Register for VBC (July 20 - 24) before July 1 at cor.org/vbc.

Upcoming Opportunity to Serve

Join Pastor Patrick at Don Bosco Senior Center on the afternoon of July 10! Help organize and distribute food brought in on pallets from Harvesters, sign people in, and clean up at the end. Mask, gloves and registration required! Sign up here.

I am so grateful to be a part of this church. I am equally grateful to be able to take some time away to spend time with my baby girl, Poppy (as well as her big brother, Freddy). I am excited about worship this weekend and I hope you have a great Friday afternoon!

With Grace, Peace and God's Holy Adventure,

Scott
