Recognizing Our Graduates

Greetings Resurrection Blue Springs!

I am sitting at my window chair this morning writing to you. I have been quietly watching to see if my orange offering at the top of the bird feeder will attract a brightly colored pair of Baltimore Orioles I have been glimpsing in the trees. This is one of my rites of spring; to try enticing these beautiful creatures for a closer look. They are a reminder to me of God’s great attention to detail and care for God's creation, for which I am most grateful.

We have a special service this weekend as we recognize our graduates and conclude our Hope series. Pastor Adam will turn to the book of Revelation to see how it provided hope to a community facing adversity. This can be a confusing book and I encourage you to join us to learn more about it.

As always, you can view our online worship at, Saturday night at 5 pm, Sunday at 7:30 am, 9:15 am and 11 am, and Sunday night at 5 pm. In addition to streaming on our website, you can tune in to local KSHB channel 41’s broadcast of our service at 11 am as well.

If you have a friend or family member who might be blessed by this, please share this news with them! Look for our own shout out to our seniors on our Facebook page this weekend, too. We know it has been a challenging end for this major accomplishment without all the usual pomp and circumstance. We want our seniors to know how proud we are of their accomplishments!

COVID-19 has made it necessary to change many of our plans this year, and this is the case for our annual Vacation Bible Camp as well. Have no fear, though, our VBC will still be happening July 20-24, only in a new and exciting way! We are planning “VBC on the Go” for preschool to fifth-grade children and their families. We’ll provide a VBC kit full of awesome activities, a t-shirt, online videos and resources to connect to our content on social media. It will be a fun and easy way to learn how we can all Live Like a Champ. Here’s how you can help: Invite your friends and neighbors to participate this year! Check out and share this video! Details and registration links can be found at

On another note, did you know that this week is National Police Week? I’d like to invite you to take a moment to stop and pray for a law enforcement officer you know and for law enforcement officers across the country. Better yet, why not drop a note to your local police department thanking them for putting themselves on the line for our safety and protection?

In the coming week, we will be providing lunch gift cards to the Blue Springs Police Department to show support for our community officers much like we have with our hospital workers.

It looks like my patience and sweet nectar has paid off! May you experience a similar sign of hope today.

Be well,

Pastor Penny
