Resurrection West,

It's been so cool driving by #LoveYourNeighbor yard signs all around our community. I've already heard from someone in our congregation who connected with their neighbor this week after they both placed yard signs and discovered they are both a part of our church.

We have many more signs available, so you can pick one or two up at our "30 for 30" Food Drive tomorrow morning from 9-11 am or during our in-person worship Sunday morning. We will have them outside for the taking.

You can pre-register for the 9 am or 11 am service this Sunday, and will have nursery, KiDSCOR programming, and rezlife Sunday School for middle schoolers. Please pre-register to reserve your spot. You will need to register your child or Middle School student for their activities, too. Please note that face masks must be worn at all times (ages 2 and over).

Currently we are only accepting registration up to 25% of capacity, which means we have the following spots still available for Sunday (as of the time I'm writing this):

9 am

  • Nursery (6 weeks-2yrs) = 12
  • Early Childhood (3yrs-PreK) = 11
  • Elementary (K-5th Grade) = 4
  • rezlife Middle School = 14

11 am

  • Nursery (6 weeks-2yrs) = 10
  • Early Childhood (3yrs-PreK) = 10
  • Elementary (K-5th Grade) = 6
  • rezlife Middle School = 15

Pre-registration for Sunday is required.

When you arrive to worship, only one parent/guardian will take the child to check in. If there are others in your household we ask that you wait in the narthex until your group is back together and ready to be seated. At the benediction of each service I will give specific instructions on how to exit and which direction to go, for one parent/guardian to check out your child.

30 for 30 Food Drive

Tomorrow, Oct 17, is the second of two "30 for 30" Food Drives across each Resurrection location. Stop by Resurrection West from 9-11 am to drop off your food donations in a safe, touch-free way as we serve and #LoveYourNeighbor. Resurrection is challenging everyone who is able to donate either 30 pounds of food or $30 to purchase food that will be distributed through our partner food banks.

Visit cor.org/serve to see the list of food suggestions or to donate online.

Trunk or Treat Helpers

We need you to help with our safely distanced "Trunk or Treat" on Oct 24 (4-6pm) in our parking lot. Can you donate candy or decorate your trunk? You can drop off wrapped candy at the food drive on Saturday or outside on Sunday during worship.

We also need 20 trunks. Right now we have 5 families signed up. If you are considering decorating your trunk, please know that it will be a touchless experience (you will not be handing out any candy) and each child will receive a bag of candy at the end as their treat. Each trunk will be a part of our scavenger hunt with kids walking past, looking for and counting halloween objects.

You can even decorate your trunk, leave it, and come back afterwards! For those who stay with their trunks, KiDSCOR will provide fun signs to hold and wave at the kids as they walk by on a scavenger hunt.

I hope you'll help us put this event together! We expect around 250 kids and their families looking for a safe trick-or-treating alternatives like this one. Sign-up your trunk here!

This Weekend

This weekend we welcome a guest preacher, Bishop Michael Curry. You might recognize him from the sermon at the 2018 Royal Wedding and he was our keynote speaker at Leadership Institute in Sept. We will be offering safely-distanced Communion (wafers as you exit the building) in worship as we gather to pray, sing, and be inspired. We also invite you to participate in the 30 Acts of Kindness right now.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again this weekend online, on TV, or in-person!

In Christ,

Pastor Jason
