Resurrection Blue Springs,

Greetings on this beautiful Friday. With the cacophony of birds and ducks outside my window this morning it seems the whole world is excited for the day. I'm looking forward this weekend to getting out and hitting my favorite spots for flowers for my containers and garden. Planting these in preparation for summer always gives me a great deal of joy.

This Weekend in Worship

I'm also excited this weekend as we'll be starting a new sermon series. In the first book written in our New Testament, Paul invited a small group of new Christians to be “children of the light.” In that letter, he offered wisdom on how to live as Christians in a non-Christian world. Two thousand years later, the first letter to the Thessalonians still offers powerful guidance for us today. I hope you'll plan to join us this weekend as Pastor Adam begins this new series on how to live as People of the Light.

It would be great to see you in person at 9 or 11 am, but please know that If you are not comfortable returning to in-person worship yet, we are fully committed to continuing our online worship experience at cor.org/live and on our YouTube channel. If you’re in the Kansas City area, you can also catch worship on local television channel KMCI 38 the Spot at 8 am or 11 am and 2 pm.

Resurrection Blue Springs Time Capsule

Also in worship this weekend, we'll take time to commemorate the last year and what is happening right now at Resurrection as we fill and seal a brand new time capsule - to be opened in 25 years! We’ll be taking a picture of all those in worship to include in the capsule. You'll want to be part of this event as we imagine what God can do with our church and ministry over the next 25 years.

Join us for a Great Adventure!

We are excited to announce VBC will be IN-PERSON this summer at all of our locations! We will kick off the week on Sunday, July 18. Every household will go home with a link to a special video from Pastor Adam introducing the Great Adventure theme for the week. Kids will be learning how the Israelites trusted God in the Exodus story and how they can trust God too! The week will culminate with a family-friendly "Great Adventure party" on Friday night, July 23. You will not want to miss it!

Registration is open now at cor.org/VBC. There will also be a virtual option for those out of the KC area or not yet comfortable with in-person gatherings.

We are going to need many hands this VBC week to help introduce God's love to kids. If you are ready to volunteer, sign-up to serve now, and if you have kids Pre-K and under, we will provide childcare while you serve!

Welcome New Members

Finally, last Sunday we had the joy of connecting with those who decided to "make it official" and join Church of the Resurrection at our online Coffee with the Pastors session! Congratulations to the 137 adult and 26 children who joined as new members and a special welcome to Lee Alvery who joins our Blue Springs location.

For those who attended Coffee With the Pastors this past Sunday, or for anyone who has attended any of the online events over the past year, please plan to join us Sunday in between services at 10:15am to learn how to get more connected at Resurrection Blue Springs. You'll have a chance to talk with me, some of our staff, and get connected to others. No registration necessary!

I look forward to worshipping with you this weekend!
