Greetings Resurrection Blue Springs,
Although I’m having a hard time believing it’s December already, you wouldn’t know it from the looks of things at the church. The sanctuary has been decked out this week for Christmas! I want to thank everyone who stayed after worship last week to wrestle with lights, fluff up Christmas trees and hang ornaments. I also want to say a special thank you to Toland’s and William’s for creating our rustic backdrop and putting on the finishing touches this year. I’m anxious for you to see it all this weekend. You can come for an early preview on Saturday morning as we’re hosting our Breakfast with Santa event for families.
The whole family is invited to celebrate Advent with us. We’ll have pancakes and sausage. Our KiDS Choir will perform a few songs for us while we eat, then we will all sing a few classics together. The kids will have a chance to make an ornament to keep and a blessing bag they can take and give to someone in need. Of course, Santa (and a few of his special elves) will be there to visit with all the kids too! It’s a perfect opportunity to get your annual pictures with Santa. Be sure to invite your friends and neighbors to come up with you to join us for a morning of fun. And if you enjoy flipping pancakes, we could still use a couple of volunteers in the kitchen.
I wanted to share with you that I am so grateful for each of you and your commitment to our mission and ministry here in Blue Springs. After the first two weeks of pledged financial commitments for 2018, we are ahead of where we were last year with an increase of about 21 commitments or approximately 18% over last year at the same time. We’re still leading the other campuses with 70% of our cards returned. With everything we are dreaming of doing in the coming year, I want to invite you if you haven’t already done so, to please take the time right now to go online at cor.org/commitment to complete your 2018 pledge or pick up up a card from one of the seatbacks on Sunday and drop it in the offering plate. Our mission and ministry depend upon your faithfulness and generosity.
Sunday Pastor Adam begins a new series about rediscovering the joy of Christmas! We will be looking at the familiar stories of Christmas, but looking specifically at what they teach us about joy – what it is, how we find it and how it impacts us.
I'm looking forward to celebrating another amazing season of Advent with you!
