Greetings RezDowntowners,

I hope you are doing well this morning! What an amazing morning it is outside. It's days like these that make it really easy to give thanks to God for all the gifts we've been given and one gift I have been particularly thankful for as of late is you.

As I enter into my last official month as campus pastor at Resurrection Downtown, I am finding myself reflecting over how amazing God is that he allowed me to share a portion of my journey with you. I cannot imagine my life, this city, or Resurrection for that matter without associating it with you. You are some of the most amazing, sacrificial, humble, and faithful people I have ever connected with and I believe that this church, this community and I am better because of you. Thank you so much for allowing God to use you in so many life-giving ways.

Though I am dreading it, I am looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible on my last official Sunday, June 27, before I shift roles and assume my new church-wide responsibilities as Resurrection's Executive Director of Ministries and Programs. However, before any of that happens I am excited to be preaching this weekend and continuing in our new sermon series, Streaming this Sunday!

This Weekend in Worship

This weekend I'll be preaching on the movie Onward, an awesome Pixar film about two brothers who go on an epic quest to spend one more day with their late father. It will be an awesome opportunity to give thanks for the people in our lives who have made a difference and really made us into who we are today. KiDSCOR will be open, and there isn't any need to pre-register your kids, you can simply show up and we'll have room for you. Also, if you want to watch Onward ahead of time, it is a great and family friendly movie worth watching. However, there's no need to see it ahead of time, as I'll make sure the sermon applies to everybody in attendance!

As always if you can't make it in person, you can also worship online at cor.org/live or on our YouTube channel any time this week.

Okay... there's so much going on this summer at Resurrection, below you'll find just a sampling of what's coming!

Picnic and Game Night!

Saturday, June 12, 5:30-7:30 pm at Macken Park (North KC)

After a year of little connection, lets gather outdoors for a night of community and FUN! Bring a picnic dinner if you'd like – games, frisbees, balls, or other fun activities. We'll provide dessert and make sure there's a kick ball game happening as well.

Invite friends, family and neighbors! No registration required. Questions? Contact Kelly.Sisney@cor.org.

Movie Night at Resurrection Downtown

Friday, June 18, 6:30 pm

Bring your favorite blanket and/or pillow (we'll have chairs set up too) as we gather to watch the movie, The Mitchells vs. the Machines. Come enjoy movie snacks and open space in the sanctuary! No registration is required. For questions, contact Kelly.Sisney@cor.org.

Men’s Pickleball Tournament

Saturday June 26, 7-9 am

Chicken N Pickle (North Kansas City) is hosting a Resurrection Men’s Pickleball Tournament. Spots are limited, so don’t hesitate to sign up. This will be doubles play, so you can sign yourself up and be placed on a team or invite a friend to join you and sign up as a team. Level of experience does not matter, all are welcome. Though, the winning team will have their names etched into the Resurrection Men’s Pickleball Golden Paddle for perpetuity (this is a real thing). Free Pickleball. Free Coffee. Free Good Times. Email Pastor Matt.Bisel@cor.org to sign up or if you have any questions.

Celebrating Pastor Scott

June 27 during each worship service

Join us for a Celebration Sunday as Pastor Scott preaches for the last time as "Campus Pastor"! On Sunday, June 27, at the 9 & 11 am services, we will be honoring Pastor Scott before he begins his new role as the Executive Director of Ministries and Programs. He will be preaching live here at Downtown and we'll be celebrating in special ways. Don’t miss it!

I am so grateful for you, for this day and for another worship weekend ahead. I hope you have a great and God-filled Friday and I'll be sure to see you this weekend!

With Grace, Peace and God's Holy Adventure,

Scott
