Resurrection West,

Summer is winding down now and we are gearing up for the fall. Sunday will be an important day as we offer a back to school blessing over our kids, teens, parents, teachers, administrators, school board members, and anyone else who serves in our community education. Each child will receive a gift in KiDSCOR.

Pastor Adam will be back at the pulpit after a time of respite, writing, and sermon planning. He will offer a timely message of hope in response to this past week’s tragic mass shootings and gun violence. These events hit very close to home with Erin Langhofer’s death (daughter of Pastor Tom and niece to Pastor Steve, who both serve at our Leawood campus). We grieve alongside their family and ask what can we do? And what should we do in response to these tragedies?

Plan to be in worship Sunday as we seek God’s hope and will for us together at 8 am, 9:30 am, 11 am, & 5 pm, with Sunday School for 5th grade and under at all services. Middle School Sunday School resumes at the 9:30 am & 11 am services the next Sunday, August 18. Please bring your teen to worship. This will be an important message for all ages!

We are still under construction as we expand to make room for all, so thank you for your patience as we shift and guide around areas to be safe as you enter/exit the building and the parking lot. The interior work will be completed in the next two weeks and the exterior a few weeks after that.

I am saddened to announce the resignation of Travis Morgan, our Director of Staffing & Operations here at Resurrection West. Travis has served faithfully across Resurrection’s campuses in many key positions over the last 14 years (including helping to launch the West campus). Next month, he will be taking a position as a Director in Operations at Netsmart in Overland Park. They are a healthcare IT company focused on behavioral health, home care, long-term care, senior care, and social services. One of their main initiatives is around erasing the negative stigma surrounding mental health, and Travis is excited about this cause and believes the company will offer a positive step in his career. I have been blessed to serve alongside Travis in ministry and call him a friend. We all wish him the best and will celebrate his ministry in one of our Sunday services later in September.

Finally, it's an honor to serve as your Campus Pastor. As we expand our seating, create more parking, and add a new entrance/exit, we invite others to the hope we have in Christ! Who will you invite to join you in worship this Sunday for this important message from Pastor Adam?
