Resurrection Blue Springs,

Greetings on this Friday morning. This is the start of a big weekend for us!

On Saturday we have over 40 coming to participate in our Cost of Poverty Experience. This training offers participants a glimpse into the lives of low-income individuals and families living in our community. It is a look into the obstacles that are faced, the decisions that are made, and the consequences that impact these families every day. The hope is that this training would help us to understand the challenges low-income families face so that we might be able to address the issues of poverty more comprehensively in our community.

Sunday is special for a number of reasons. First of all, we will be celebrating a milestone in our children’s faith journey as we present Bibles to all our 3rd grade students. We have 19 signed up to receive Bibles on Sunday! I continue to be amazed at the growth of our KiDSCOR ministry and am grateful that this continues to be a priority for our congregation. If you have a 3rd grader you would like to participate in the 3rd Grade Bible presentation but have not notified us, please email Diane Enlow, our Children’s Director, today. There will be a Bible Exploration class for our kids to learn how to navigate their new Bibles in January of 2020.

Sunday is also important for us as we will be inviting all of our members to turn in their annual commitment cards towards the work of ministry in 2020. Each year as I watch you all bring these cards forward, it is an opportunity for me to reflect on the many ways God has used and multiplied these gifts to change lives and make a difference here in our city and around the world. I am always overcome with gratitude at this expression of your ongoing faithfulness and generosity.

I pray that you will join Bill and I in prayerfully considering how God is calling you to serve through your generosity this next year and that you will set aside some time to fill out your commitment card so that you can place it with the others on the altar this Sunday. If you are unable to join us in person, please fill out our online commitment card here: At the end of each service, we will have the 2020 mugs available as a thank you for your commitment!

Sunday we will also be welcoming our newest members from Coffee with the Pastor and honoring our Veterans. I hope you will plan to join us for this special day!

Grace and Peace,

Penny Ellwood
