Greetings RezDowntowners,

I am so grateful to be writing you this morning as I prepare to head out on a Holy Land Pilgrimage. Pastor Jason Gant (from Resurrection West), Pastor Matt Bisel, and I will be leading a team of 61 people to Israel to retrace the footsteps of Jesus. I am so excited to see the Holy Land through the eyes of so many Resurrection members. Each day over the next couple weeks, I'll be sharing photos and videos on my Facebook and Instagram feeds, so please be sure to follow our adventures and stay up-to-date on what we're doing! Please also be in prayer for us as we journey together, that God would grant us traveling mercies and safety on our trip.

While we're away, Pastor Adam will return to the pulpit and preach a message on the ninth commandment, "You must not give false witness." This will be a weekend to focus on honesty and the power of keeping our word or being people of integrity. We'll also talk about the damaging impact of bearing false witness or not telling the truth about others. It will be a great weekend to be in worship as we'll have a chance to hear from our very own Pastor Darryl Burton as well, as he shares about his time being wrongfully imprisoned, because of false testimony. I hope you'll join us.

Also, I want to be sure to say "thank you" to all who served with Christmas in October (CIO) last weekend! Volunteers from all Resurrection campuses helped to make strides in improving the warmth and safety in over 20 houses all over the metro. It was so awesome to see – be sure to visit our Facebook page for some photos of this great event.

As a reminder, we will not host our regularly scheduled Serve Saturday tomorrow due to the Kansas City Marathon. Because of that, we are looking for volunteers to help fill backpacks this coming Monday evening, Oct. 21. If your small group meets on site that evening, would you consider staying afterward and helping us pack backpacks at 8 pm?

In the meantime, here are some other things coming up in the life of our church...

Youth Retreat

If you are or have a rezlife youth, join us at Youthfront West in Edgerton, Kansas, for a fall retreat weekend filled with outdoor games, campfires, hayrides, worship activities in large and small group settings, and time for students to grow deeper in their faith. Rezlife students from all Resurrection campuses will be participating! For more information and to register, visit the links below.

3rd Grade Bibles

Our annual 3rd Grade Bible Presentation is Nov. 10. Email Sarah.Elliott@cor.org before Nov. 4 if you would like your 3rd grader to participate in the 3rd Grade Bible presentation on Sunday, Nov. 10 at the 9 am service. We're also planning to host a Bible exploration class for kids to learn how to navigate their new Bible in January of 2020. Stay tuned for more details on that!

I am so privileged to serve Christ alongside all of you here in Kansas City and I pray that God will be with you while I'm away and that this weekend would be a weekend of hope, joy and life.  Have an awesome Friday!

With Grace, Peace and God's Holy Adventure,

Scott
