When I went through the very traumatic delivery of my first son and his subsequent health concerns in the NICU as an infant, I remember how special it was when a stranger (now a friend) named Molly delivered gelato to the hospital and said “I know what it’s like."

Talking to someone who has been through a similar situation brings so much hope. That’s what our many support groups at Church of the Resurrection offer: people who understand our suffering and offer prayers and companionship. A couple weeks ago, we learned that God works all things together for good for the ones who love God (Romans 8:28, CEB). One of the most clear ways I can see God creating something good out of hardship is through our support group leaders – people who have been through hard things but are using those experiences to bless others. There is quite a variety of topics available and many are available online!

While you may not need a support group for yourself today, I get excited thinking about how each of us could invite someone we know who might be hurting. What an amazing impact we could have on our friends throughout Kansas City if we think of this as an outreach opportunity! Our support groups are always open to anyone, you don’t have to attend our church to connect this way.

I pray the resources of our church remind our whole city that none of us is alone, no matter what we are walking through.
